@YugamiSekaiP@skywalkerthrawn i don’t believe there’s a set learning path for anything for anyone but you will be challenged in your understanding of things and implementing tried and true approaches in that will help you drawing 250 boxes isn’t how anybody has ever learned fundamentals
@YugamiSekaiP@skywalkerthrawn i’ve been losing weight while eating fucking mcdonald’s rather often and just eating slightly less taking it slowly and i like the progress i’ve been making. not everything has to be based around online culture mandating how these things should be done
@YugamiSekaiP@skywalkerthrawn that’s not a universal dieting experience and i don’t know how that relates to getting good at art. i’ve gotten good at multiple skills through hard work and i’m glad i don’t look back at what ive done and feel i wasted my time getting good.
@skywalkerthrawn i think learning fundamentals isn’t suffering to bring meaning to you as an artist, it’s eating your veggies to help improve your art and ability to express yourself as an artist
@skywalkerthrawn to be honest while i think tracing 3d models isn’t that big of a deal there is definitely value in learning those things not because of suffering but because it does improve art and the ability to draw and it is a good experience
improving your understanding of the skills that are weak for you means you’re more likely to have it correct at the foundational level instead of it being something you notice deeper along and have to either edit over and over again or give up on
thankfully i’ve reached a point where i feel i’m a lot more consistent if nothing else. i think the key to being consistent is working on your weaknesses first. i wanna really knock it out of the park for y’all tho so next i’m going to hone my strengths
learning to draw is basically like playing a roguelite. you’ll have shitty drawings, cool drawings that you can’t recreate consistently, but you’ll pick up things in each drawing to help with the next. and it’ll piss u off
i believe weaknesses are the biggest bottleneck of consistency because they have the greatest degree of variation. the things you know and understand you’re gonna hit well every time but those things you struggle at will sometimes be better and sometimes be closer to your floor
