Great job to all Nodes! This was one of the most challenging migrations.
Next up will be v25, deadline June 18.
CiDi Games, a Pi Network Ventures portfolio company, launched their beta app in the Pi Browser!
This brought Pioneers 10 instant-access games along with skill-based tournaments, platform progression through CiDiScore, the Pi ELF companion experience, Elf Continent, and developer infrastructure for Pi-integrated games.
In less than one week after the beta launch, CiDi Games independently attracted over 81,000 Pioneers across 160+ regions and 1.2 million game sessions organically, demonstrating how the Pi Platform can help utility-focused apps reach real users, drive engagement, and monetization, which in turn expands utility across the Pi ecosystem.

Watch Pi Founder Nicolas Kokkalis speak in the Consensus 2026 panel “How to Prove You’re Human in an AI World (Without Doxing Yourself)”.
The discussion focused on how digital trust and identity verification systems must evolve as AI makes it possible to generate bots, agents, and synthetic identities that closely resemble real human behavior at scale.
The panel explored a core question for the AI era: how systems can continue to verify real human participation without requiring unnecessary disclosure of personal information.
A key theme was that proof of humanity is context-dependent, with different systems requiring different levels of verification depending on use case and risk.
The importance of privacy-preserving design was also highlighted, ensuring verification can scale while remaining usable for real users.
As AI lowers the barrier to building and interacting online, the harder challenge may be connecting digital systems to real users, trusted participation, and meaningful utility.
Pi’s Layer 1 blockchain, identity verification, payments infrastructure, non-custodial wallets, smart contracts, and engaged global community are all part of Pi’s ongoing work to address that challenge.

For the first time, OKX has made Pi available to millions of people in the US through its platform, adding another access point to the Pi ecosystem for US users.
Pi continues to expand its global network of Pioneers and partners, and strengthen ecosystem participation, utility, and real user adoption across the world.
More users. More usage. Stronger network
Big kudos to Mainnet Node operators for upgrading to v23.
Most major Nodes have now been upgraded, and the protocol is expected to move to v23 soon.
This was one of the most challenging upgrades to date, as it involved multiple subsystem upgrades and optimizations that required internal data reprocessing.
Protocol 22 -> 23, Ubuntu 20 -> 24, PostgreSQL 12 -> 16
AI is creating a new wave of builders.
People are turning ideas into apps faster than ever before.
But most creators still face the same problem after building:
How do you actually reach users?
Pi App Studio can now help close that gap.
Creators can now take apps built with external AI coding tools and connect them directly into an ecosystem with:
60M+ engaged users
Integrated payments
Decentralized human workforce
Platform-level infrastructure
If you know builders, vibe coders, indie creators, or AI communities looking for distribution and real users, share this with them.
The next generation of apps will come from more people than ever before.
Now they need places where those apps can actually be used.

Pi is tackling one of the most urgent problems in the AI era: proving real human identity online.
Pi Founder Nicolas Kokkalis will speak on a panel at Consensus 2026 on Thursday, May 7, from 10:15-10:45 AM EDT at the Convergence Stage.
The session, “How to Prove You're Human in an AI World (Without Doxing Yourself),” explores how the internet’s trust model is breaking as AI systems become capable of creating bots that can generate profiles and interact like real users.
At the core of the discussion is a simple challenge: how do you verify a real human online without exposing private identity data?
Want to know how? Join us in Miami on May 7th!
See you there!
There are over 18 million identity-verified users on Pi.
But there is one clear difference between Pi’s users and others.
1 million verified users on Pi ≠ 1 million users on other networks.
Most networks measure growth in accounts.
Few measure it in verified users.
There’s a difference.
Pi recognized the importance of identity verification early on and that unverified account creation is simply not enough. Verified identities are needed for any meaningful transactions, especially in real-world economies.
Any time an asset (like crypto, fiat currency, property, etc.) is transferred, it raises a basic question of identity: who is sending it, and who is receiving it. If those identities aren’t clear, it becomes difficult to trust that the transfer is valid or that it went to the right person.
Therefore, Pi Network has built a fully KYC-verified Mainnet ecosystem.
Because when users are verified:
Spam drops.
Trust increases.
Utility becomes more reliable.
The Pi Mainnet has successfully upgraded to Protocol 21.
Node operators, please ensure your systems are up to date and stay tuned for instructions regarding the upcoming v22 upgrade.
As announced on Pi Day 2026, the initial version of the Token Launchpad has been released as a Pi App on the Testnet with a test token! Pi believes financial literacy is necessary for people to live in an AI-pervasive economy, so Pioneers should start learning today by testing the Testnet Launchpad app through the Pi Browser.
The Pi Mainnet has successfully upgraded to Protocol 20, laying the foundation for supporting smart contracts. Node operators, please ensure your systems are up to date and stay tuned for instructions regarding the upcoming v21 upgrade.
All major Pi nodes have now been upgraded to version 20.2 and are supporting protocol 20. Pi has also completed the upgrade of its Mainnet blockchain to protocol 20.
Protocol 20 provides the foundation to enable smart contract capabilities, and the rollout of smart contracts will occur gradually, prioritizing categories that align with utility-based product innovation and operations. The specific types of smart contracts featured will depend heavily on the needs arising from the utility creation process.

The initial version of the Pi Launchpad has been released as a Pi App on the Testnet with a test token! Because the Launchpad introduces new concepts for many Pioneers and uses mechanisms that differ from typical token launches in Web3, it is being introduced on Testnet first so the community can become familiar with how the process works before the Mainnet launch.
The Launchpad implements the mechanism in Design 1 of the PiRC (https://t.co/TRJcKD4dwS) released on the Open Network anniversary. Read more about the Launchpad in the Pi Day 2026 blog https://t.co/6cUmVcjOos
Pi released a deep-dive case study into the recent proof-of-concept project for a new Pi Node utility that supports decentralized AI training and computing tasks for third-parties using the spare computing capacity of over 421,000 Pi Nodes. In collaboration with OpenMind, a robotics startup invested in by Pi Network Ventures, this project showed that Pi Nodes can process AI-relevant workloads and return useful results quickly. This work is part of and provides insights for the general initiative to integrate Pi into AI infrastructure itself, utilizing distributed computing and enabling authentic human input for AI training, inference, and reinforcement learning. https://t.co/ruh6Z7Qyl0
