"We are heartbroken but also very angry. Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital," the family said in a statement provided to CNN.

"Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the hero term lightly. However his last thought and act was to protect a woman."

"The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed."

"Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you."

It is our responsibility as Americans to get the truth out there. Petti was not attempting to harm anyone. He was swarmed, beaten, and disarmed by vicious federal agents who were looking for someone to hurt. Once they had removed his gun — which he had a legal permit to carry — they executed him in cold blood by firing numerous bullets into him. Then, the Trump administration proceeded to immediately falsely smear him as a "terrorist" who wanted to carry out a mass shooting against law enforcement. They're utterly shameless.

“He cared about people deeply and he was very upset with what was happening in Minneapolis and throughout the United States with ICE, as millions of other people are upset,” said Pretti's father Alex. “He thought it was terrible, you know, kidnapping children, just grabbing people off the street. He cared about those people, and he knew it was wrong, so he did participate in protests.”

Rest in power Alex. The rest of us will carry on the fight.

BREAKING: Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey calls on Americans to stand up in defiance after Trump's masked agents murdered another innocent person on camera: "Your children will ask you what side you were on."

The time for standing on the sidelines is over...

"I just saw a video of more than six masked agents pummeling one of our constituents and shooting him to death," said Frey. "How many more residents, how many more Americans need to die or get badly hurt for this operation to end? How many more lives need to be lost before this administration realizes that a political and partisan narrative is not as important as American values?"

The deeply disturbing video in question shows a mob of masked agents brutally beating a man on the ground. One of the agents then shoots the helpless man. At that point an agent backs up, firing repeatedly into the man in a brutal execution-style killing. While details are still emerging, there are indications that the man was confronted for filming the agents, at which point the agents escalated.

"How many times must local and national leaders must plead with you, Donald Trump, to end this operation and recognize that this is not creating safety in our city?" Frey continued.

"So to everyone listening, stand with Minneapolis," Frey went on. "Stand up for America. Recognize that your children will ask you what side you were on. Your grandchildren will ask you what you did to act to prevent this from happening again, to make sure that the foundational elements of our democracy were rock solid. What did you do to protect your city? What did you do to protect your nation?"

"This is not what America is about. This is not a partisan issue. This is an American issue," he added.

While the police are still withholding the identity of the victim, they've identified him as a 37-year-old white man who apparently only had traffic tickets on his record. They believe that he was a lawful gun owner.

The Department of Homeland Security has already rushed to baselessly smear the slain man — just like they did with Renee Good — as a possible would-be mass shooter who wanted to "massacre law enforcement." Despite evidence to the contrary, they're claiming that he approached U.S. Border Patrol officers with a 9mm handgun. If he did in fact have a gun on his person, he was legally permitted to carry it. We cannot believe a single word that this administration says.

Let's be crystal clear about what is happening here. Trump's masked enforcers are executing his political opponents in the streets, character assassinating them, and then moving on to their next victim. This administration is waging war on the American people. Choose which side you're on. History is watching.

The rest is covered collectively by Europe, Canada, and others.

America has had some dark days since @realDonaldTrump was elected to office. He's weakened American power, diminished the office of the president and caused considerable suffering around the world with his reckless and ill-conceived policies.
He is now attempting to force Ukraine to surrender a significant amount of its territory and accept punishing limitations on its future sovereignty. While Russia gives NOTHING in return! America wants to wave the white flag and extend the olive branch to Russia. Ronald Reagan would be rolling in his grave to see how far Trump has sunk America.
History will damn Donald J Trump. His name has genuinely darkened the reputation of the United States, a reputation of weakness, meanness, bullying and bullsh*t, that will endure long after he has left office.
