Yes, you read that correctly.

Trading Standards is warning about rogue roofers after one householder reportedly paid around £90,000 for a roof on a small terraced home.

Here’s my rule with unexpected doorstep traders:

Your roof is NEVER so urgently broken that you cannot close the door, get independent advice and obtain other quotes.

And if someone suddenly discovers another £10,000 of “urgent work” once they’re on your roof, STOP.

Please tell elderly relatives and neighbours about this one.

An appropriate birthday present on my uncle's birthday today. A federal judge ruled that President Trump and the Kennedy Center Board acted unlawfully in renaming the Kennedy Center. The judge held that only Congress can change the Center's name and blocked the planned two-year closure. I know they'll probably appeal and the story isn't over, but for today let’s celebrate a great birthday gift.
