Today, the leadership of City Traders presented a petition to us regarding high taxes and the mode of collection of the taxes. Our insistence is that they be accorded attention by the tax body so that these concerns are addressed.

Also, as I mentioned yesterday at the unveil of our Alternative Budget, we need to deal with all leakages including corruption and wastage, that way the tax payer will not be pressed hard.

Today in Parliament, Finance Minister confessed to us that Gov't has so far spent $156m (592bn) on Lubowa Hospital construction.
Our demand was that he brings a status report showing proper accountability for all that money.

I also urged Parliament to halt all allocations to this project since it is not open to scrutiny, and we're not sure who exactly is in charge of the project since even the Minister of Health has in the past been denied access by security.
