Nowadays, it's more important than ever to engage with people you know are the real deal. If you're not an offshore bot account and you like to argue about movies, literature, and pop culture, or if you're a fellow "J. Golden Mormons", let's follow each other and have some fun.
@Billy_Ocean_ At this point, it feels like more than mere stubborness or sunk-cost fallacy. Google and Scammy-Sammy have the dirt on these studio heads. 😂
Martin Scorsese is backing an AI company to “push the bounds of creativity to create deeper and richer experiences for audiences.” He is using the technology for storyboarding purposes.
"I’m interested in the intersection of technology and storytelling, and seeing how that can push the bounds of creativity to create deeper and richer experiences for audiences. Cinema is a young medium, only around 125 years old, so we have to be open to how it can evolve. I utilized 3D with ‘Hugo’ and de-aging technology for ‘The Irishman.’ Now, with this tool, I can share what I’m visualizing more clearly and efficiently to my creative team — the production designer, art designer, and cinematographer — for them to build on to enrich cinematic intelligence."

The funniest thing about the discourse around THE ODYSSEY and the callouts against Christopher Nolan is that dude isn't on social media and does not--and will not--know about any of this, so y'all are just yelling into the wind while he's vibing and making his movie. Hilarious.
We must distinguish between what is critical and what is frivolous.
Effective military AI? Makes sense—if it works for citizens and not against us.
Borged out kids? Different thing entirely. Repulsive.
Cancer cure? Okay. Bring it or shut up.
AI slop factory? You can keep it.
It's 2026, and some are still pretending that Qui-Gon isn't a based Jedi King, Maul isn't the blueprint of bad-assery, or that Jar Jar Binks isn't every lonely child who just needs a chance to prove themselves.
I've also always had a soft spot for Captain Panaka.
i’ll never forget walking out of the theater going “wow that fixed EVERY problem i had with The Force Awakens i’m excited about star wars again” & then everyone lost their fucking minds
What's most interesting to me is the language used, here and by many Tech Bros, re: AI.
"We have to..." "Don't be left behind..." "You're not keeping up..." "Going to make your life easier and better..." "You have to understand..." "We have to use it."
Patently ridiculous language.
No one "has to" use anything. Everyone is on their own path and no one is "being left behind" at any point.
Use of this type of language is nothing but an attempt to introduce fear and a lack of choice to you.
You have nothing to fear, and you have free will, always.
That is never not true. Never.
Come to think of it, there's also this documentary on Karen Carpenter that just went ahead and hired actors to depict scenes that weren't documented. A bit melodramatic, but still pretty good.
And if "surreal" is what you're looking for, there's Todd Haynes' Barbie doll video...
So there's this documentary on Kurt Cobain that uses hand-drawn animation to depict stories from his life that weren't possible to capture on camera. It's a great doc, and true to the grungy spirit of its subject. It should be on HBOMax if you wanna check it out.
Steven Soderbergh says his upcoming documentary about John Lennon and Yoko Ono will include roughly “10 minutes” worth of generative AI.
“AI has been helpful in creating thematically surreal images that occupy a dream space rather than a literal space. And that’s been really fun because you need a Ph.D. in literature to tell it what to do. But like every other piece of technology, it desperately requires very close human supervision.”
