🚧 EVERYTHING IS A RUG? 🚧

I saw a comment under one of Jakey’s tweet. It was a random guy calling Superbased a rug. This was literally 24 hours after they sold out. This project was created by a few vital Solana OGs that have done a lot for us, so seeing this comment and many others made me reflect on web3.

You know what sucks more than being a rugger? Not being one and having people in web3 assume you are one either way.

Many people have never learned about business, or have never tried creating one. Many think they know about business, but only worked in a branch of a business. Some have been rugged in the past and their PTSD forces them to call everything in web3 a rug.

We have an extremely high amount of people in CT who baselessly call everything a rug or assume the worst just to be sure. For many of you, it is safer to call everything a rug than to believe. This made me realize something.

I am 100% sure that many past ruggers ended up rugging not because they planned to do so, but because of those of you who call everyone in web3 a rugger. The aggressive, high-demanding nature of the space and the entitlement of some people could have triggered more rugs than we think.

Think of all the founders that could have continued trying, but probably saw a dead end with a lifetime label of “rugger” regardless of their efforts or actions.

I’m not here to justify rugging. I want to remind those of you who call everything a rug that you are also partially part of the problem whether you like it or not.

Your baseless assumptions, ignorance, inherent lack of faith on life or people, and your past traumas have probably taken away a few hundred insane founders who could have done unbelievable things for web3.

They may had been better if you wanted to support, believe and have faith. Many times, people choose the easy route of doubting and giving up on someone.

If we gave some of these few founders with potential some time and space to build, peace, encouragement and faith, they may had become the greatest founders in web3. However, by instantly assuming they are ruggers, many of them probably became exactly what you wanted them to be.

Since many of you like to always assume the worst and baselessly accuse people of being ruggers, you create a hostile and toxic environment that does not attract or motivate those few founders that actually want to create value for all of us.

Think about it, some founders bust their ass with a web3 start-ups and are still considered ruggers and may always be. If the floor price, the volume or the engagement isn’t the highest, it does not mean a founder is not trying their best or that a founder is a rugger.

Why would founders continue trying if they are destined to be known as ruggers either way?

People who have never started a business or have little to no experience or knowledge about businesses have an equal say than those who have experience about what they are talking about.

This is great because we should all be able to express our opinions. However, this also means that anyone who knows nothing about running a project can conclude and assume things, or express an opinion without having the full range of information available in their minds.

Don’t get me wrong, There are some horrible people in life that would rug. As long as humanity lives, low-life ruggers will always exist.

I am not here to justify these types of hard ruggers. I am here to share a view in which some of these past ruggers may had been heroes if we had believed in them a bit more. Rugging will never be okay. Any person with a minimal sense of integrity knows that this is not the way.

Baselessly assuming everything is a rug as a result of, overgeneralization, personal past traumas, lack of faith or insecurities, is also not okay though.

What if we support new founders instead of assuming the worst of them without even giving them a chance?
