Hi @Ashley_Cartman @StuartMcQuilla1 @SaveAVGreenbelt surely the New Zealand floods ring alarm bells about approving development on flood plains like Ashton Vale? Funnel run-off into the Avon Gorge and there'll be IMMENSE trouble downstream
Thousands of people have signed up to protect Bristol's green spaces:

And hundreds are signing up to protect the greenbelt in North Somerset:

The deadline for responding to the Bristol Local Plan consultation is the end of today, Friday 20th Jan.
Lets keep the fields around Ashton Vale in the green belt and protect other green sites in Bristol.

I made a template to make it easy to respond to Bristol’s local plan. Just fill this out & send to [email protected] Obviously change anything you don’t agree with & delete any sections you don’t wish to comment on. This is your chance to have your say! *

Please comment on section 11.7 of the local plan and say that Ashton Vale should not be removed from the greenbelt. It’s a flood risk zone and wildlife corridor so building here would be a mistake for so many reasons. This fight isn’t over. @SaveAVGreenbelt
Update from ecocide… I mean homes England. They couldn’t wait in the queue like a good Brit and are crying to the planning inspectorate claiming non-determination.
Retweeting without a like!
We think the "could" is quite important in the tweet from @beardedjourno. Still a long way to go.
Congrats to the Sporting Quarter. We were never against that being developed.
Just trying to protect the green belt & green space for people & nature.
BREAKING: 500 new homes could be built on green belt land at Ashton Vale. A majority of councillors agree that “very special circumstances” have been met to grant the application which will help fund Bristol Sports’ redevelopment of Ashton Gate.
This is Ashton Vale, where Bristol Sport want to build 500 new homes “in a high-quality urban village environment”. Councillors at City Hall will decide the land’s fate at a meeting tonight which could also see permission granted for major new developments at Ashton Gate Stadium.
Standing on one ex landfill looking at another. Can you see the greenfield on the floodplain ? A billionaire want to build 500 + houses. Greenbelt and currently feeding the only dairy herd left in Bristol. #foodsecurity@SaveAVGreenbelt@TessaJFitzjohn@Bristolfoodnet
Local Authorities including Bristol are getting on board with ripping up environmental protections ….to what purpose??? improve their job prospects…..i don’t think so😟
Someone is submitting blank support comments on the Ashton Vale app now. If the planning officer recommends this for approval I will lose all respect for @BristolCouncil planning department. This is a green belt site, not in the local plan, a flood plain & wildlife corridor! 🤯
⚠️Local Plan Thread⚠️ This is super important so if you are in Bristol please read this! As the article says The local plan is coming up for consultation in Nov. I’m going to explain why this is so important, why housing targets can be harmful to local communities & how to help🧵
Hey @bw_businesswest You know the delay is the applicant’s fault right? You know they didn’t submit the required Information. Do you always threaten planning committees? Thanks for confirming the date of the decision though. Ashton Vale is a beloved wildlife site not a product
Good news! @EnvAgency has maintained their objection after meetings with the developers for Ashton Vale! This means BCC can’t approve the application unless they call it in to the Secretary of State. @SaveAVGreenbelt@SaveUrGreenbelt@TonyDDyer
Chuffed that a good friend put a wildlife camera on our stream, what a wonderful reward. The habitats on the farm are vital for important wildlife. So proud x
