The climate crisis is several crises rolled into one. Extreme weather has made it harder for children to have food and clean water and left them vulnerable to exposure and diseases. When young people demand action on the climate crisis, they know their futures are on the line.
Wherever children face a crisis, we're there to help.
Whether we’re providing life-saving treatment for starving children, cash assistance to refugee families, or health care in conflict-heavy regions, Save the Children helps kids have the safe, healthy lives they deserve.
As #Syria faces a critical turning point with cautious optimism for the future, the needs of children have never been greater. Nearly 14 years of conflict & economic crises have left 16.7M people in need of assistance. 45% of them are children. We must make this a turning point.
All around the world, violence and conflict have forced families to flee their homes. Many children live in tents.
All children deserve safety, education, health care, and a safe home. Save the Children helps provide these things to children with nowhere else to go.
It is time to end the siege on Gaza and allow far more aid to be delivered there, including shelter, food and medical supplies. The international community must ensure accountability for the atrocities children have endured throughout the region. This must never happen again.
We are relieved the Government of Israel and Hamas have reached an agreement to pause hostilities in Gaza after 15 months of siege and bombardment and to release hostages. We hope it offers the first step towards the peace, protection and accountability that children deserve.

The impact of war on children is devastating. But amidst the darkness, there are rays of hope.

"I miss touching his soft hair...My mother told me that he’d be hospitalised, & I won't be able to hold him for a while.”
That's Kaltun* lovingly holding her baby brother Ahmed* at a medical centre in Somalia. He's been diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition & tuberculosis. 1/
"I'm hungry and my children are hungry too," Khadra says.
"I have pain in my stomach,” says Kaltun, “I sleep well when I eat food. When I feel hungry, I can't play.”
Hunger has no place in a child’s life. Your support can help kids like Ahmed recover before it’s too late. 3/
Landslides and floods from Storm Trami have killed at least 80 people in the Philippines, including 15 children. Almost a quarter of a million kids have had their lives upended. We're distributing hygiene kits & cash handouts. And we're setting up safe learning spaces.
Take it from us: @UNRWA are the crucial provider of aid, health clinics, schools, and other vital services to children and families in Gaza. Without them, our task would be nearly impossible.
Let's be LOUD AND CLEAR: The Government of Israel must reconsider and let more aid in.
TODAY IS OUR DAY OF ACTION!
We join @saferworld4all in urging everyone to e-mail their MP's to demand that simple 0.32% increase in the budget to save children and families in the hardest hit places around the world.

The @ausgov puts 0.68% of its federal budget toward helping families in the world’s hardest hit places. If they increased it to just 1%, we could make a difference to 700 million people around the world!

The Government of Israel is planning to starve families trapped in northern Gaza. They've cut off food aid since 1 Oct, and children are dying.
The Australian Government must use any political influence to stop the siege from being approved.

In closing, remember that as children grow up in a changing climate, they're seeing what's happening, finding their voice, and wanting to turn anxiety into action. It's up to us to help and support them.
Talking to your kids about climate change: 🧵
Climate change is threatening the future of Australia’s kids, and with extreme weather looming each year, they can feel anxious, overwhelmed & unsafe. But with your help, they can be reassured. Even inspired! Here's what you can do:
5. Work together.
Anywhere there's a crisis, there is also hope for change. Inspire kids to see themselves as capable changing things. Discuss ways you can take local action together (joining a protest or environmental group, contacting reps, climate-friendly habits, etc).
