The irony of Uttarakhand Government's decision to cut 700 trees to make it easier for tourists to reach Mussoorie. What will the tourists do when there is no nature left for them to enjoy?

DOOMED IS THE WORD
"DOOMED". Everytime I think this is the lowest we can go boom @BajrangDalOrg never dissapoints. @Anoopnautiyal1

You cannot force people into protests. This is beyond unethical. Where is the police? What is wrong with people? If this were your daughter or sister, would you stay silent? Heartbreaking to see an educated city like Dehradun make headlines for this absurdity every single day.

Dehradun isn’t your “hidden gem” to exploit for reels. We blame the govt, but we’re the ones geo-tagging every quiet spot into chaos. With the highway, this will only spike. Be creative without exposing locations—or don’t post. The valley can’t keep paying for your views.
Every morning these days you wake up to a shitty proposal from this dumbass @pushkardhami government I mean the audacity of this blind government is next level. You can literally not make a name for yourself while you are just keen to destroy everything that you cannot even make.
Name Change from Landour to Ramgir (Mussoorie):
There is a proposal to change the name of Landour to Ramgir. Locals are opposing this move. Do share your views on the matter.
Thank you!

PM is coming to Dehradun tomorrow to inaugurate Delhi-Doon expressway
these posters are put up everywhere in the city
I don’t understand the reason for it
- is this to tell people that PM is visiting?
- will PM be happy to see his photos everywhere?
in my opinion, they are a waste of tax money. and they also make the city look bad. as in, it is opposite to beautification of the city. people want to see clean streets and trees and nature and not posters of same thing every 100 m. I also like to believe that our PM thinks the same and that the state govt should do better for us
The Irreparable Dilution of Brand #Dehradun
The powers that be in Dehradun & Uttarakhand are failing to either recognise or accept the irreparable dilution of Brand Dehradun.
The town, now a bustling city, had carved out a niche during the past decades & was known globally & fondly for its salubrious climate, verdant valleys & emphasis on quality education.
In recent years; a lot of the sheen was taken away by unplanned urbanisation, extreme concretisation, rampant mining & massive amounts of deforestation; aided by lax & highly compromised governance.
In the latest phase - apart from all above - the markers of crime, liquor, errant pubs, drugs, street brawls, road rage & murders have become synonymous with Dehradun.
Ironically; instead of focussing on the deteriorating law & order and loss of goodwill, the Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has put most of his energy on driving the land, love & thook jihad narrative.
While this suits him politically, the collateral damage to Dehradun & the larger state of Uttarakhand is immense. I fear that neither him nor his coterie of advisors seem too concerned or bothered with this.
In my humble opinion, they are erring & are failing to recognise the vast amounts of hopelessness, frustration & anger that is brewing not only amongst the people of Dehradun but those who relate to the town/city & live elsewhere in India & abroad.
As a concerned & well meaning citizen; I can only appeal for sanity & sustained commitment. The last thing one would want is to have the image of Dehradun tarnished beyond repair.
I hope someone, somewhere listens & takes/makes a note to heal & soothe the frayed nerves. It would be a pity to lose something that has meant so much to those who have been fortunate to have lived here or spent some time in the valley of Doon.
P.S. : I often tag the #Uttarakhand Chief Minister but right now am just not in the mood to do so since it all seems so worthless to try & draw his attention to these grim & grave issues.

3 things @pushkardhami can learn from @myogiadityanath to improve law & order in #Dehradun & #Uttarakhand:
We have a major, full blown law & order crisis in our city of Dehradun & the larger Uttarakhand region. The question is: what can be done better? I suggest 3 clear actionable points for our Chief Minister that he can take from the Yogi Adityanath playbook in Uttar Pradesh:
1. Visible & consistent deterrences:
One thing that stands out in UP under Yogi is the creation of a proactive & clear deterrent effect on habitual offenders. Whether one agrees with the methods or not, their messaging is consistent. In contrast, Uttarakhand is always reactive rather than preventive. Pushkar Singh Dhami should focus on making deterrence visible daily, not just after major incidents.
2. Preemptive policing:
Crackdowns after murders & incidents mean almost nothing. The shift in UP has been toward preemptive policing by tracking mafias/gangs, monitoring repeat offenders & acting early. In contrast, incidents in Dehradun reveal major gaps in intelligence & day to day policing. The outcomes are for all to see. In contrast; prevention needs resources, data, local inputs & coordination. This should become a priority.
3. Not just headlines:
I really notice this all the time & frankly abhor it & find it extremely distasteful. In Uttarakhand, murders or disaster bring statements & press notes. In contrast & in general, UP is far more outcome oriented. To come back to Uttarakhand, action is only for a day or two. We all know that catching criminals after murders is not enough, it is more about prevention & ensuring the system works consistently.
These three points are not rocket science. These are possible but for that, you need to be running a clean administration. A corruption-free foundation can sustain the above. Otherwise it becomes another meek effort aimed at managing the headlines rather than structuring, optimising, consistently improving & leading the safety system!
The ₹10,000 Crore Question: Elevated Road for Tourists or Public Transport/Walking/Reduced Pollution Infra for People?
If you had ₹8,000–10,000 crore and lived in Dehradun, Haridwar, Roorkee, Rishikesh, Mussoorie or nearby areas, this question is for you.
There are two choices for spending this money. One is a 26 km Rispana–Bindal elevated corridor, largely benefiting tourists heading to Mussoorie. The other is to use the same funds to build strong public transport linking Dehradun, Haridwar, Roorkee, Rishikesh, Vikasnagar and Doiwala, while promoting walking, cycling and green spaces; benefiting 25 to 30 lakh residents and reducing pollution. Which option would you choose?
This is not hypothetical; such decisions must involve public participation.
Thank you Audible Aakanksha for inviting me for the podcast!
@Anoopnautiyal1 Dehradun is ruined! It's just getting pathetic day by day the number of outsiders in the city has led to end numbers of accidents. Just yesterday, we lost one of our senior from school Vigyani Di in an accident near Haridwar Bybass. Reckless driving, honking, zero civic sense
17 years ago, in 2008, I left a cushy, comfortable, corporate career and moved back home to #Dehradun in #Uttarakhand. Little did I know then that this would perhaps be one of the best decisions of my life. For many years now, the gas chamber of Delhi is torturous for millions of people. With no solutions in sight, my sympathies with those who have no option but to breathe this toxic air.
