Almost 2 weeks since we wrote to the parties, we've heard from @connieegan94 , the @allianceparty Education Spokesperson, who affirmed her support for language learning and hope that the Review of Education will give recommendations on how to address the current language deficit.

Pretty obvious to me that we should make foreign language learning compulsory to GCSE.
Languages are a social good and are in high demand by NI exporters!
To grow our economy we need more linguists 🇩🇪🇫🇷🇪🇸🇨🇳🇹🇷🇵🇱
It's a shame we lost Erasmus+

Next week we launch our latest #LanguageTrendsNI research!🎉
Conducted by Dr Ian Collen @NICILT, it gives an overview of language provision in NI & follows on from our research in 2021, which found that language lessons were ‘hardest hit’ during Covid-19👇https://t.co/v5kcOa6nRR
Every young person should have the opportunity to learn a language in primary school, but far too many don't get that chance.
We are falling behind the rest of Europe and letting pupils down. It's time for change.
We're asking the parties to commit to #SaveLanguageLearning👇

Why learn a language? Because there's a whole world beyond your own. Because Spanish, Arabic & French let you communicate on most continents. Because Chinese, Urdu & Swahili create exciting new perspectives. Because whatever else you're interested in, a language makes you better.
With exam time looming have a look at some of the fab examples below to make your learning of languages even more fun. Who said language learning is boring?!🤩
