@TrrJane Hi @TrrJane, thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, we're only limited to 4 options for this poll. We're interested to know what other options you would have included.

@bholtmann We understand your point @bholtmann, however, lifting the ban on alcohol cannot solely be attributed to the rising rate of COVID-19 infections nor an increase in trauma cases, as mobility increased to almost baselines levels between the lockdown levels.

The alcohol bans massively impacted the alcohol supply chain, putting over 1 million jobs at risk and more livelihoods still on the road to recovery. Visit https://t.co/KX4wsVPf1a to make your pledge. #SaveMyLivelihood
@ThobsSim 1/2
Thanks for reaching out @ThobsSim. When we moved to lockdown level 3 (1st June 2020), there was an increase in economic activity with ~8 million people set to return to work. This would be accompanied by increased social interaction and vehicles on the roads.
Most countries reported a collapse in GDP growth but few fared as badly as SA. Shutdown of businesses & the prohibition of cigarettes & alcohol sales, further choked off revenue. We must protect our livelihoods by behaving responsibly.

@Daveylevinsohn We're sorry to hear that @Daveylevinsohn. The truth of the matter is that the alcohol ban wasn't sustainable. A significant percentage of people in the value chain indicated that their businesses wonโt survive beyond August 2020. #LetsTalk about what that means for the economy?
The ban on alcohol put over 800 SMMEโs and micro manufacturers at risk of going bankrupt. How will they cope in an additionally strained environment? We must all do our bit to protect jobs and keep this industry strong. Visit https://t.co/qh1PFxY2j0

@almanook Beer is supposed to be enjoyed moderately and responsibly and therefore, we cannot, as a nation condone reckless behaviour of any kind, especially as we fight to contain the spread of this virus @almanook.
