Great to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Lions Municipal Golf Course this morning. Muny has been an integral part of Austin for the past century, and it needs to be a key part of our future.

In 1950, Muny became the first public golf course in the Southern United States to desegregate and is listed as a civil rights landmark. It’s an irreplaceable part of our parks system and home to hundreds of heritage trees.

In 2019, as state senator, I authored Senate Bill 2553 creating the Save Historic Muny District in an effort to solve the long-standing uncertainty surrounding the future of this significant Austin treasure.

I was proud to be there this morning and continue efforts to @savemuny.
