.@ABCbirds: Speak up to protect birds.
The proposed site for Heritage Wind Project poses a high risk to birds, but may be on a fast-track to approval. Ask decision-makers to take a hard look at risks to birds & require necessary steps to reduce impacts.

My @WSJopinion piece re backlash against Big Wind has over 400 comments. Here’s one from IA:
"a wind farm sprung up in the distance spoiling the view during the day but especially at night where the red beacons from the turbines spoiled the solitude.”

📢PRESS RELEASE📰
“It's a bad place for wind turbines, plain and simple,” ABC's Joel Merriman says. “It's really unfortunate — this conflict could have been avoided, had the developer kept turbine locations away from this incredibly important area.”

@SenatorOrtt asserts Gov. Cuomo wants to promote green energy at the expense of local governments' authority.

Today, I joined state and local legislators as well as concerned citizens to push back on Albany’s attempt to silence local voices and local control over unwanted industrial energy projects.
Local voices matter and local municipalities must have a say on these proposed projects.
Here’s what John Riggi, a councilman in Yates told me in a recent email: His town and others in rural NY are "fighting to keep our lands free from environmentally destructive, culture killing and unwanted industrial renewable energy projects.”

Another example of the rural backlash against Big Wind. This one from Yates, NY which opposes @NYGovCuomo effort to strip small towns of home rule:

Our VP Kate Kremer writes in today's @LockportJournal: Contact @NYGovCuomo and demand he leave local taxing alone, that he keep large-scale green energy projects under SEQRA and ask him to direct Apex to end the Lighthouse Wind project.

Supervisors Jeff Dewart (Somerset), Wright Ellis (Cambria),Jim Simon (Yates) write in @TheBuffaloNews: "Renewable energy projects, any development project, must be planned in communities that want them. It should be simple."

Let's keep the pressure on!
If you don't want to call @NYGovCuomo you can send him a message through the Contact page of the state website:

.@nytimes: Frozen Turbines and Surging Demand Prompt Rolling Blackouts in Texas
Part of the problem arose when wind turbines in West Texas became frozen.
Monday’s wind power loss alone affected 2 million customers.

The most fundamental bit of energy security is that we don’t freeze to death during cold spells like the one now wreaking havoc across the continent.
