Don’t leave it to someone else. Have your say.
What a massive turnout for the March for Clean Water! And what amazing organisation by @saveloughneagh_ in bringing people together. Politicians, get your act together. Clean up your crap and the mess you have created, through decades of disastrous decision making.
Such hypocrisy in the Irish State! There is NO just transition here but they want to preach to the World. Wake up and smell the coffee - industrialising our #peat bogs and our coast is destroying wildlife in Ireland and the government is ignoring the people's protests. Hypocrites!
Almost six years after the #Meenbog Windfarm landslide disaster, an investigation is launched into another landslide at a Donegal windfarm that's currently under construction on peatlands.

@ECOWARRIORSS In Ireland 60% of industrial wind turbines are on #peat bogs!
In #Donegal 90%+ are on peat bogs with dire consequences for Birds & Rivers. 3 White Tailed Eagles have been killed by turbine blades in the County & a second large bogslide has occured.

@DarraghOBrienTD@WindEnergyIRL@ESBNetworks@GasNetIrl Every day Ireland's reliance on fossil fuels & imports is staring politicians in the face but why choose reality when you can wallow in delusion? Sure as long as the boyos are making money what care for the wee people?
Not only have the folks in Benbradagh had their council vote to take their mountain for a wind factory but now @CausewayCouncil is championing data centre expansion and AI infrastructure.
@CArchibald_SF how do you feel about this?
Warning: another AI data centre in the pipeline. Atlantic Link Enterprise Campus, Portstewart Road, Coleraine
Existing data centre acquired by international technology company Eryce. Plans to expand the very small existing data centre to a AI hyperscale one and acquire more land
From 2021… Poots who was Environment Minister talking about the “massive opportunity” presented by renewable energy in the North West: “we need to press ahead with my suggestion to go after data centres and so on and have the energy available for them.”
One week ago since the protest and a great turnout as people stood up against AI and toxic Data Centres. Coming up: ❗️March for Clean Water at Stormont is on Saturday 26th September at 2pm. ❗️Public Meeting on Data Centres and AI on 8th October at An Cultúrlann, Derry from 7–9pm.
Motion on Monday calling for a moratorium on new hyperscale AI data centres. The motion was passed, but it is non binding. It does not create a legal moratorium. Also hyperscale data centres can’t ever run solely on wind power. They require reliable electricity 24/7, thats a fact
Wind power is not clean or green. Where would the Whales, Basking Sharks & the rest of marine life go if industrialists get their greedy paws on our Irish coastal waters? We need our seas more than intermittent wind power! Speak up and #SaveOurCoast from destruction!
