Polish PM Donald Tusk told parliament that Ukrainian partners informed him the Armed Forces of Ukraine are now losing 27,000 killed and wounded every month — a record since the start of the war.

A few days before my address to the European Parliament, Volodymyr Zelenskyy—my former boss—imposed sanctions on me. Sanctions against Ukrainian citizens are unconstitutional, just like many of Zelenskyy’s other decisions. Volodymyr Zelenskyy uses them against anyone who advocates for peace in Ukraine. I knew that "high treason" charges were being prepared over my interview with Tucker Carlson, and I anticipated the possibility of sanctions. This does not change my position, nor that of millions of Ukrainians. To survive, Ukraine needs peace, not another autocracy—even if it is Zelenskyy’s autocracy.

Ukraine is out of money. The government now says so. Non-defense spending is pushed to December. Defense is paid first; the rest waits. They “hope” salaries and social payments will not slip — delays would be a catastrophe — and still admit it may happen. Plan B is printing money: more cash, a weaker currency, higher prices. Ukraine still needs about $50B a year from abroad. For 2027 they already see a $32.6B hole. Foreign creditors are protected. Reconstruction, local budgets, and winter are not. Zelenskyy will blame parliament. That is the wrong target. The problem is manual rule from his office: no strategic planning, reforms stalled when they threaten control, every hole filled with another emergency. Printing money was the temptation long before this war’s fifth year. Now the liquidity crunch is the pretext. The cost will fall on wages, pensions, and Ukraine’s national currency.
