Today marks 100 yrs since the death of visionary theatre architect Frank Matcham. #kingstheatre was one of over 150 theatres he designed of which only 21 survive. Matcham had an eye for beauty, lavishness and most importantly for us today clear sightlines to the stage #Matcham100
Today marks 100 years since the death of theatrical architect, Frank Matcham. Matcham’s opulent style still resonates through Blackpool. The Tower Circus, originally designed by Maxwell & Turk in 1894, was redesigned by Matcham in 1899 and opened on 4th June 1900. #matcham100
Frank Matcham's New Theatre and Opera House has evolved over the years, but its iconic facade and grand design remains unmissable to this day. Next year marks the theatre's 130th birthday, and we cannot wait to welcome you all back as soon as possible!

The Elephant & Castle Theatre was Matcham's very first theatre in 1879-due to untimely death of his father-in-law. Sadly this is all that remains (as of 16 May 2020) and due for demolition. Would love to know what original features remain behind the metal and inside #Matcham100
