Had a great catch-up with Revd Caroline from St Cuthberts, Marton. Really grateful for her help on land ownership and fascinating chat about archaeology, graves and lots in-between.
Well done to Tony Grainge who was elected councillor for Ladgate last night. I look forward to working with both Councillor Wright and Councillor Grainge to #saveourspire!

#middlesbrough people, can we all show some love for Heidi Schulz-Immer? Heidi was passionate about the town twinning between Mbro and her city of #Oberhausen in Germany. She loved Mbro, our people and our heritage. She died this weekend after a battle with Cancer. RIP Heidi 🇩🇪🇬🇧
This is such a great article! Nobody can explain why our spire is important better than the people of Easterside💪
Such great memories here! Have you got your own memories to share?

🗳Ladgate is soon voting for a new councillor - here’s what the candidates say about our spire!
Great that most - though sadly not all - are supportive of our campaign! It’d be great to have a 2nd cllr backing us alongside @Craig89Wright

Did you know 🤔
St Agnes' was paid for by money left by Agnes Spencer? Agnes was the widow of Thomas Spencer - one of the founders of @marksandspencer.
She did a lot for local charities & the church was named after her. Her grave is just up the road at Marton.
🗞We made it into The Gazette 🗞
“I’ve heard so many stories from residents – of christenings and weddings, of little kids trying and failing to climb it, and of people using it to find their way home when they were lost."

Happy Sunday!
One lady shared with us that the spire reminds her of walking back from Sunday School and getting an ice lolly on a warm day. She’d go for a Woppa. My favourite was always a Twister. What’s your favourite?
📺 SPIRE UPDATE
Today I met with Middlesbrough Council's Head of Planning and local councillor Craig Wright to talk about the future of the spire and getting its importance recognised. The more memories we collect the better so please share them in the comments!
📺We know our spire is part of Middlesbrough's heritage. We need the Council to agree with us and put it on their list of locally important buildings. Like and share if you agree! #SaveourSpire
A #Middlesbrough legend says that jazz legend George Melly was on tour & staying in the Marton Country Club. He went for a late night walk after a heavy night partying. Next day he told people he’d had hallucinations of a giant metal triangle.
He’d made it down to Easterside.
