A "compute tax" fails on basically all the basics of optimal taxation.
- Don't tax capital
- Don't tax intermediate goods
- Don't tax easily manipulable things
- Don't tax small tax bases
Overall, a dumb idea.

@BrianCAlbrecht Final point is the best point...
Instead of starting with inventing a new tax you'll wind up badly understanding/managing, stop taxing labor first!
me when my friends are having a bad day: that’s your anxiety talking. i promise it won’t always feel like this and I love you no matter what
me when i have a bad day: this time i have finally realized the Truth. that i am bad and my life will never get better
@infraa_ A. If taxing tokens reduced the growth of ai, would that be better?
B. If UBI, identify their moat. It's not tokens per se. IP mostly, certainly some other things?
@somefoundersalt Guy I bought my house from 6ya ran a fasteners import business (i'm guessing).
My mailbox is still full of random hardware catalogs from shenzhen. Post office dgaf about forwarding ig.
About an hour into the movie, John Travolta's character, played by Nick Cage (cause they've already cut each other's faces off once), explains to Nick's henchman that the plan is to 'cut his [Nick's] face off'.
My kid immediately walks out.
Been watching Face/Off w my 13yo. At the part where they cut eo's faces off. Kid goes 'oh jeez, this is why it's called face off? If they're being ironic, why are they so serious?'
So I explained to him that in the '90s, ironic and self aware were completely separate things.
@brian_trollz Still not sure what got you so heated. I clearly didn't say what you thought I did. 😕
But I'm more disappointed in your lack of curiosity. Ted WASN'T right about everything, and you COULD know why he was wrong and why there's hope, if you wanted to. It's in the second book.
@brian_trollz Yes. And that's basically an abridged take of Ellul's TC. You can read it for yourself, or read Ted's letter to the author.

@brian_trollz Maybe, but I've read his manifesto and the book that directly inspired it.
What were your thoughts on Technological Society, and have you read its companion piece?
(And you did misread my first post. There was no left/right element to it other than the order the images posted)
@NRSC God was born biologically male with male genitalia?
So He was not at the beginning?
When was He born?
Who was His father and mother?
Y'all spent a lot of time defining what precisely a male was, and now you're projecting that narrow, earthly logic to God?
@tedcruz God was born biologically male with male genitalia?
When was He born?
Who was His father and mother?
Y'all spent a lot of time defining what precisely a male was. Does that still hold?
