When an opponent steps up to the free throw line at Barclays Center, that’s when Bruce Reznick shines. Known simply as Mr. Whammy, the Nets diehard fan began his free-throw tradition over 20 years ago. Accompanied by his wife Judy, “Mrs. Whammy”, Mr. Whammy has been attending Nets games for 25 years, always found in a bright red shirt under a Nets jersey.
Get to a game early and you’ll find Mr. Whammy watching warmups courtside, showcasing his gameday sign that provides an uplifting message for the team. A consistent presence over the years, players have come to look out for that night’s message while taking the court. And as more fans trickle into the arena, Mr. Whammy will stop and take photos with any and everyone who asks.
"We have such love from the fans. They love us as much as we love them, and we're blessed."
