Most of this isn't true. TCM was not 'Supposed to be' PG, its just what Hooper shot for and it had nothing to do w Spielberg hiring him later.
Additionally, Poultergeist got an R at 1st due to 'Terror induced by the soundtrack' because it utilized the then new Dolby Digital
Fun fact. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was supposed to be PG (hence the lack of gore). It's one of the reasons Spielberg hired Hooper for Poltergeist. PG also.
Poltergeist originally got an R for the bathroom face peeling scene, which was trimmed. The extra gore later turned up in the TV version oddly enough.
This is also as good a time as any to show off the exceptionally rare promo that was drafted w an R rating. It sold a few yrs back to another private collector. Hooper tried to buy it but the og collector declined and had him sign it.

Almost nobody talks about it anymore but the film they made from this is one of my all time favorites. I've watched it on Tubi several times. 'Billy Joe' was played by Robby Benson (as in the Beast from 'Beauty and the Beast') and Glynnis O'Connor is spectacular
@thamosdeaf Go to a goodwill and look for a Homedic. They're a dime a dozen. I've owned the same one for years. This is a more modern one but mine has a rotating spindle you can put a pumice stone or brush on and has multiple settings. Throw some Epsom in there and you're golden
I'm gonna go ahead and drop the Gregg Araki clip Elaine shot in 2023 for the Nowhere restoration this Friday. This movie is so visually striking that I have no idea what to use as a thumbnail. Any suggestions?

For Pride Month, I'm urging people to watch Gregg Araki's Nowhere.
Despite being made in the 90s, I think the themes of trying and failing to enjoy life because you see the world falling apart in the corner of your eye feel relevant in 2026.
@UpdateTheGrids I have 2. Both from Goodwills. One in Seattle,Wa and the other in Mid-Mo. My fav is this guy which has a feature to play the other side without having to eject the disc and flip it.
