A few books, packaged and ready to post (including one to the British Library!)
Available to buy via mail-order - contact [email protected], from H.G. Crisp or from Aldeburgh Bookshop @AldeBooks.
Thank you everyone for your support!
We've had more visitors this year than ever. And, don't forget our book launch event 23rd Oct. Visit our website for more details. https://t.co/MnyLZ8BO5T
The support we've had from volunteers, visitors and donations has been wonderful and makes us feel that all the hard work we put in last year and this year to have the Museum open has been worthwhile.
We navigated the 'advice', recorded no incidents, and received lovely feedback.
Book Launch!
An exciting moment for the Museum as we've published a pictorial story of reminiscences and history of Saxmundham. The book is currently available for pre-launch orders. https://t.co/MnyLZ8BO5T
We are about to publish a new book, a pictorial story regarding the history of Saxmundham. Featuring reminiscences and tales, a little information about the grand houses and above all, an insight into the past Saxmundham.
The book, “Our story of Saxmundham” will be published soon
I guess we could have said that while we can't offer free chickens, we can offer free entry but please leave a donation if you enjoy your visit.
Everyone has been very supportive and we have had some great feedback.
Thank you!
Open tomorrow, first Tuesday opening in too long a time.
BTW 7 High St was rebuilt by the Co-Op in 1933. On its opening day each customer received a free chicken!
Sorry, we can't offer free chickens but come along and see our displays! Face coverings for the time being please.
Thank you to everyone who has visited us so far this year.
We will be open to visitors Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. 10am ‘til 1pm
Come and say hello!
Please note: We would encourage visitors to wear a face covering when inside the Museum.
Our founder and friend Richard Crisp will be in conversation with Wayne Burns on Alde and Blyth Community radio (ABC) tomorrow (Sunday) at 11:20. Talking about Saxmundham Museum and our plans for reopening in a safe way for 2021.
As things go, we are looking to welcome back volunteers and visitors 19th May! Our newest display board will focus on the history of Hurts Hall. Drop by and have a look! We're still following 'guidance' r.e. Covid.
Currently, we plan to be open on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (normal hours, 10am to 1pm). Wednesday 19th May will be our first day open.
We shall be happy to see everyone! Come and see us!
There is a film about Sax, made in 1934, which is available to view online for free. Hosted by the BFI. For anyone who might be interested, here is the link https://t.co/5geXImD17D
The Trustees have reluctantly decided to postpone the scheduled Annual General Meeting for Saxmundham Museum.
Meanwhile, in order to ensure good governance of Saxmundham Museum, our latest set of annual accounts have been filed with the Charity Commission in the usual manner.
A huge ‘Thank You’ to everyone who visited the Museum this year! Our volunteers worked incredibly hard to open in a Covid secure way. We've shredded our final batch of visitor information forms. Looking forward to 2021! Keep safe!
We have a major maintenance issue at the Museum and we couldn't open today (25th) and or tomorrow (26th).
With sadness this brings our season to an early close.
Sorry to disappoint the potential visitors who had pre-booked to come to see us.
