People want honesty about chronic illness until the honest answer ruins the mood.
Then suddenly you’re negative, dramatic or “focusing on it too much.”
They didn’t really want honesty.
They wanted a comforting update.
The strongest people…
Aren’t always the loudest.
Sometimes they’re the ones
Who got out of bed.
Who answered one text.
Who ate one meal.
Who stayed alive for one more day.
And today that is enough. ❤️
During the pandemic, the planet got a brief chance to breathe. Air pollution dropped, waterways became cleaner, wildlife returned to places it had long abandoned, and ecosystems began to recover. It almost felt like COVID was Earth’s vaccine, and we were the virus.
Does anyone else with ADHD or neurodivergent get so overstimulated that you can literally feel yourself getting irritated at everything? I don’t even want to be mad and half the time nothing is actually wrong my brain just decided everything is too much at once and now I’m pissed off
Being neurodivergent is noticing patterns early, warning people, being ignored, then watching exactly what you predicted happen months later. By then, everyone acts like it was obvious all along, and nobody remembers you called it first. It’s a uniquely frustrating experience.
DOCTOR: When was your last period?
ME: They’re regular. Next one should be next week.
DOCTOR: Are you on birth control?
ME: No.
DOCTOR: Are you pregnant?
ME: Absolutely not.
DOCTOR: How do you know?
ME: Haven’t had sex in years..
DOCTOR: Are you sure?
ME: Unless immaculate conception made a surprise comeback, yes. I’m sure.
tolerating always turns into resentment. at first, you call it patience, then love. but what it really is, is self abandonment. every time you swallow a boundary, excuse a pattern or silence your discomfort, something inside you keeps score. eventually, the bill comes due.
Let's talk about initiation.
Not just initiating SEX. Initiating ANYTHING in relationships when you have ADHD or AUTISM.
Initiating a difficult conversation. Initiating plans. Initiating affection. Initiating repair after a fight.
Because there's this assumption that if you don't initiate, you don't care.
And that assumption is destroying our relationships and our connections to other people.
I care SO MUCH. I think about initiating ALL THE TIME. I have entire scripts written in my head about what I want to say or do and how I want to show up for my partner and connect with them and be present.
But somewhere between my brain and my body there's this MASSIVE GAP. Executive dysfunction means I can want something desperately and still not be able to make myself DO it. I can know exactly what needs to happen and still feel completely paralyzed about starting it.
Autistic inertia means once I'm in one state or activity, switching to another state or activity sometimes feels impossible. Even when I WANT to switch. Even when the thing I'm switching TO is something I genuinely desire.
And then there's the fear.
The fear of doing it wrong. The fear of being rejected. The fear of misreading the situation.
The fear that I'll start something and then not be able to finish it or I'll get overwhelmed halfway through or my brain will go
