Craig Hodges asked Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson to boycott Game 1 of the 1991 Finals between the Chicago Bulls and Los Angeles Lakers as a way of calling out racism and economic inequality in the NBA.

The two superstars called him extreme. David Stern must have agreed, because in the months that followed no NBA organization would give him a tryout or return his calls, much less sign him to a contract. Hodges believes that he was “blacklisted” for his “beliefs.”

Hodges won the NBA 3 point contest three times, in 1990, 1991, and 1992. The last of which he won while not being on an NBA roster.

He has NEVER in his professional career had to face the defenses that these other guys face.
