I didn't expect the Indian Union Budget to alter the flat 30% crypto tax regime, despite industry lobbying for recalibration. But I did expect some simplification in reporting for individual taxpayers.
From personal experience, it's tedious to fill out the VDA schedule in ITR-3. There was a lot of confusion around tax obligations for converting dollar-pegged stablecoins to fiat. Unless these nuances are chalked out in the existing tax structure, any significant reconsideration will remain a far-fetched dream.
Further, two exchanges underreported TDS on my transactions last year, leading to a discrepancy. The $545 flat penalty and $2.2 daily fine in this year's Budget is thus a necessary step toward better compliance. But for entities with millions of dollars in revenue, I wonder what effect a paltry fine will have on them.
It's one thing to stubbornly hold on to an anti-crypto stance through half-baked policy measures. It's another to embrace a framework that balances innovation and compliance in a highly competitive global market.
Now that the algorithm is favoring articles, will the fomo push EVERYONE to subscribe to Premium+ and publish AI slop?
Remember, someone desperately needs money in their accounts.
In India, classrooms in the best colleges and historically successful courses are now empty. Students are either enrolling in part-time courses or dropping them altogether to join the gig economy.
I find this quite concerning.
If universities don't reinvent themselves to cater to the fast-changing job market, they'll not only be obsolete. They'll actively contribute to the mass-scale social disintegration and anarchy.
I honestly think universities are going to get hurt bad in this AI wave.
AI replaces teachers, generates courses & guides & lets you ask dumb questions with zero judgment.
no outdated curriculum frozen for several f*cking years
@arjunnchand Plus, socio-historical events always have a role to play. I switched from field-based work to a remote job during the pandemic. Flexibility and a strong skill set are also necessary to adapt during hostile conditions.
