Srinagar, May 12, 2026: Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, while speaking to the media on the sidelines of a supermarket chain inauguration in Srinagar, reiterated the concerns he had expressed during his Friday address at Jama Masjid regarding the growing menace of drug addiction and the need for a ban on alcohol.

Mirwaiz said that both drugs and alcohol are deeply harmful to society and stressed that the government cannot justify acting against one while staying quiet on another. He stated that although Jammu and Kashmir is a Muslim-majority region where alcohol consumption is socially and religiously discouraged, several states in India with non-Muslim majorities have also imposed restrictions or bans on alcohol because of its damaging impact on society. The first step by the new govt in Tamil Nadu was to close down 700 liquor shops.

Reiterating his demand for a complete ban on alcohol, Mirwaiz said that the ongoing campaign against drug networks will not yield the desired results if action is not also taken against liquor , which is also destroying families . Besides Mirwaiz stressed that the drug campaign should not be region biased and cause harassment to the family members by home demolitions for the actions of one individual.

63rd Death Anniversary of Mirwaiz Molvi Atiqullah Shah (RA) Observed

Srinagar, May 12, 2026 : Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam today observed the 63rd death anniversary of its former President, eminent religious scholar, spiritual leader, and educationist, Mirwaiz Molvi Atiqullah Shah (RA), with deep reverence and respect.

On the occasion, the President of the Anjuman, Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, paid rich tributes to the late Mirwaiz, describing him as a visionary leader, a symbol of spirituality, and a selfless servant of the community. He said that Mirwaiz Atiqullah Shah (RA) devoted his life to the educational, religious, and social upliftment of society, and that his legacy continues to inspire generations.

A special commemorative function was organised by the Anjuman in which M.S. Rahman Shams, faculty members, staff, and students remembered the late Mirwaiz for his remarkable contribution to education and reformative efforts. Speakers termed his tenure as a “golden era” in the history of the institution and highlighted that despite severe financial constraints between 1947 and 1962, he successfully carried forward the mission of the Anjuman through public support and dedication.

Speakers also recalled his important role in the establishment of Islamia College of Science and Commerce, which initially functioned within the premises of the Anjuman.

Meanwhile, Islamia Oriental College organised a special Qur’an recitation and prayer gathering for the spiritual blessings of the late Mirwaiz and other former Presidents of the Anjuman.

.@MirwaizKashmir Voices Concern Over Iran Tensions, Calls for Peace and Responsible Use of Resources

Says Iran is seeking de-escalation despite being capable of defending itself, and criticises U.S. policies for contributing to global instability

Srinagar May 12, 2026: Commenting on the ongoing global energy crisis and the tensions involving Iran, Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr. Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq, while speaking to the media on the sidelines of an event in Srinagar, expressed hope that peace would prevail soon and urged people to use resources responsibly during this period of uncertainty.

“Let us hope that the conflict comes to an end soon. In such times, resources must be consumed with restraint and responsibility,” he said.

Mirwaiz also criticised the United States over the escalating situation involving Iran, alleging that Washington’s policies were contributing to instability and conflict across the world, particularly in relation to Tehran.

He said that Iran’s proposals aimed at de-escalation and ending hostilities were “reasonable and justified,” while accusing the United States of maintaining a rigid and uncompromising stance.

Mirwaiz added that while Iran was fully capable of defending itself, it was at the same time making efforts towards reducing tensions and seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

وصال عقیدت و احترام سے منایا گیا

انجمن نصرت الاسلام نے اپنے سابق صدر، ممتاز عالم دین اور روحانی پیشوا، میرواعظ مولوی عتیق اللہ شاہؒ کا63واں یوم وصال انتہائی عقیدت اور احترام کے ساتھ منایا ۔
اس موقعہ پرانجمن کے صدر، میرواعظ ڈاکٹر مولوی محمد عمر فاروق نے مرحوم میرواعظ کو زبردست خراج عقیدت پیش کرتے ہوئے انہیں ایک انتہائی دانا صاحبِ بصیرت، روحانیت کا مجسمہ اور ملت کا ایک بے لوث خادم قرار دیا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ میرواعظ عتیق اللہؒ کا مشن آج بھی مشعلِ راہ ہے اور اسے آگے بڑھانا ہم سب کی ذمہ داری ہے۔
انجمن کے زیر اہتمام خصوصی تقریب میں مدیر نصرة الاسلام ایم ایس رحمن شمس اساتذہ، عملہ اور طلباءنے ان کی تعلیمی اصلاحات اورخدمات کو یاد کرتے ہوئے ان کے دور کو ادارے کی تاریخ کا”سنہری دور“قرار دیا۔کیونکہ 1947 سے 1962 کے درمیان شدید مالی بحران کے باوجودمرحوم میرواعظ نے عوامی تعاون سے انجمن کی تعلیمی اور اصلاحی سرگرمیاں انتہائی خوش اسلوبی کے ساتھ جاری رکھیں۔
موصوف نے ہی اسلامیہ کالج آف سائنس اینڈ کامرس کے قیام میں کلیدی کردار ادا کیا جو ابتدائی دو سال انجمن کی عمارت میں ہی قائم رہا۔ 1962 میں ان کے انتقال پر ہزاروں افراد نے سوگ منایا، اور انہیں ملہ کھاہ سرینگر میں سپرد خاک کیا گیا۔
اس موقعہ پر اسلامیہ اورینٹل کالج نے مرحوم میرواعظ اور انجمن کے دیگر سابق صدور کے ایصالِ ثواب کے لیے خصوصی قرآن خوانی اور دعائیہ مجلس کا بھی اہتمام بھی کیا۔

Srinagar, May 13, 2026: During his visit to Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam School in Anantnag (Islamabad), Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq said that after eight long years he had been allowed by authorities to visit the institution. Interacting with the students present, he expressed happiness and lauded the work being carried out by the Nusrat-ul-Islam Trust for the benefit of students and the community.

Mirwaiz said that whether in Srinagar, Islamabad or Bijbehara, the main focus of Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam is to provide balanced education along with strong moral and ethical values to the younger generation. Mirwaiz stressed that “taleem and tarbiyat (education and nurturing) must go hand in hand. Education is not only about vocation and degrees, but equally about character building, understanding responsibilities and inculcating human values.”

He added that Anjuman Nusrat-ul-Islam since its inception in 1899 was never a commercial or profit-driven enterprise, but about access to education for all, where even today more than 60 percent of its students are first-generation learners from low-income backgrounds, receiving education at a nominal cost.

Stressing upon the role of parents, Mirwaiz said that parents have an equal responsibility in ensuring the proper upbringing, including the moral development of their children alongside formal education.

Mirwaiz also expressed deep grief over the loss of life and property in the fire incident at a Darul Uloom in Anantnag, in which a student lost his life. He said that he wanted to visit the institution to express solidarity with those affected, but was not permitted to do so by the authorities, which he termed unfortunate.

آٹھ برس بعد اسلام آباد میں نصرت الاسلام ٹرسٹ کے دورے پر میرواعظ کا متوازن تعلیم اور اخلاقی تربیت پر زور

میرواعظِ کشمیر ڈاکٹر مولوی محمد عمر فاروق نے آج انجمن نصرت الاسلام ٹرسٹ اننت ناگ (اسلام آباد) کے دورے کے موقع پر کہا کہ آٹھ برسوں کے طویل وقفے بعد انہیں حکام کی جانب سے ادارے کا دورہ کرنے کی اجازت دی گئی۔ اس موقع پر طلبہ اور اساتذہ سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے انہوں نے خوشی کا اظہار کیا اور نصرت الاسلام ٹرسٹ کی جانب سے طلبہ اور سماج کی فلاح و بہبود کے لیے انجام دیے جا رہے کاموں کو سراہا۔
میرواعظ نے کہا کہ خواہ سرینگر ہو، اسلام آباد یا بجبہاڑہ، انجمن نصرت الاسلام کا بنیادی مقصد نئی نسل کو متوازن تعلیم کے ساتھ اعلیٰ اخلاقی اور انسانی اقدار سے آراستہ کرنا ہے۔ میرواعظ نے زور دے کر کہا کہ تعلیم اور تربیت ساتھ ساتھ چلنی چاہیے۔ تعلیم صرف روزگار اور ڈگریوں تک محدود نہیں بلکہ کردار سازی، ذمہ داریوں کا احساس اور انسانی اقدار کو فروغ دینا بھی اس کا اہم مقصد ہے۔
انہوں نے کہا کہ انجمن نصرت الاسلام اپنے قیام 1899ء سے کبھی بھی ایک تجارتی یا منافع بخش ادارہ نہیں رہا بلکہ اس کا مقصد ہر طبقے تک تعلیم کی رسائی کو ممکن بنانا ہے، جہاں آج بھی ساٹھ فیصد سے زائد طلبا ایسے خاندانوں سے تعلق رکھتے ہیں جن میں یہ پہلی نسل ہے جو تعلیم حاصل کر رہی ہے اور انہیں نہایت معمولی مصارف پر معیاری تعلیم فراہم کی جا رہی ہے۔
والدین کے کردار پر زور دیتے ہوئے میرواعظ نے کہا کہ بچوں کی رسمی تعلیم کے ساتھ ساتھ ان کی صحیح تربیت اور اخلاقی نشوونما کو یقینی بنانا بھی والدین کی برابر کی ذمہ داری ہے۔میرواعظ جب نصرۃ الاسلام ٹرسٹ پہنچےتو طلبا، اساتذہ اور معزز شہریوں نے موصوف کا پرتپاک استقبال کیا۔
میرواعظ نے اسلام آباد کے ایک مقامی دارالعلوم میں پیش آئے آتشزدگی کے واقعہ پر گہرے رنج و غم کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے جانی و مالی نقصان پر افسوس کاظاہر کیا، جس میں ایک طالب علم اپنی جان سے ہاتھ دھو بیٹھا۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ وہ متاثرین کے ساتھ اظہارِ یکجہتی کے لیے ادارے کا دورہ کرنا چاہتے تھے، تاہم حکام نے انہیں اس کی اجازت نہیں دی جسے انہوں نے افسوسناک قرار دیا۔
اس دوران میرواعظ نے کے۔پی۔ روڈ اننت ناگ پر ایک تجارتی مرکز کا افتتاح بھی کیاجہاں انہوں نے نوجوانوں کو دیانتداری اور لگن کے ساتھ حلال روزی کمانے کی تلقین کی۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ کوئی بھی کام چھوٹا یا بڑا نہیں ہوتااور اخلاص، محنت اور عزم کے ساتھ نوجوان کامیابی حاصل کر کے سماج میں مثبت کردار ادا کر سکتے ہیں۔

Thousands, Offer First Friday Prayers of Ramazan at Jamia Masjid Srinagar

Srinagar, Friday, February 20, 2026: The first Friday (Jumu’ah) of the holy month of Ramazan was observed with profound devotion at the historic Jamia Masjid Srinagar, where thousands of worshippers, including a large number of women, gathered to offer congregational prayers in an atmosphere of spirituality and reverence.

Addressing the large gathering, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq described Ramazan as a month of spiritual renewal and collective reform. He said that the historic Jamia Masjid has for centuries symbolized faith, unity, patience, and steadfastness for the people of Kashmir, and that the sacred month provides an opportunity to reconnect with these enduring values.

Referring to the challenges faced by the people, the Mirwaiz said that Ramazan comes as a mercy in times of uncertainty and hardship. Quoting the Qur’anic verse, “Indeed, with hardship comes ease” (94:6), he urged people to move away from despair and embrace hope and faith.

The Mirwaiz concluded with prayers for acceptance of fasts and supplications, relief for those in distress, stability in the region, and unity among the people during the blessed month of Ramazan.

He also announced that tomorrow he will deliver a sermon at Naqshband Sahib Shrine before Asr prayers on the occasion of Youm-e-Wisal of the beloved daughter of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), Khatoon-e-Jannat Hazrat Fatimah (RA).
