Zulfikar Bukhari, international relations adviser to Imran Khan, says he fears further state backlash against a protest march planned by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, the party of Pakistan's jailed former PM Imran Khan.

Pakistani security have in the past 24 hours arrested and detained Khan's sisters for 30 days as well as raiding properties of other family members.

Responding to the arbitrary detention of members of former prime minister Imran Khan’s family, including his three sisters, as well as activists from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) ahead of the party’s planned protests and march on 27 September:

“The targeting of Imran Khan’s family and PTI party activists is a flagrant violation of their rights to liberty, freedom of expression, association and peaceful assembly. Such actions speak to the severity of the current restrictions in Pakistan.

“The pre-emptive arrests of PTI members come ahead of planned country-wide protests by the party on 27 September, which government officials have openly vowed to stop. Roadblocks are already being erected in Islamabad. These developments do not bode well, especially given the authorities’ long track record of reckless and unlawful use of force against protesters. A protest cannot be deemed violent before it has even started. Pakistan’s authorities must uphold their obligations under international human rights law to facilitate peaceful assembly and refrain from unlawful measures to thwart these protests."

20 days have passed, yet Hammad Azhar continues to be kept incommunicado, denied access to both his lawyer and his family. His 75-year-old mother has now been forced to approach the Lahore High Court, seeking justice and family. Punjab Police have raided Aleema Khan’s home and have abducted Imran Khan’s other two sisters, his nephews and their children. If this is on the orders of the vile @MaryamNSharif , who has been ridiculed recently on using a govt private jet on tax payers money for a personal trip- then she even as a grandmother has left zero sanctity of a home , women or children. The actual true cost of operating a Gulfstream G500 (G VII-G500) to London from Lahore and back including parking and crew TA/DA is Rs 80,500,000 (Rs 8 crores 5 lacs). Breakup is explained below.

Maryam Nawaz has claimed that she has paid Rs 27.5 million (Rs 2 crores 75 lacs) for her private use of the Gulfstream 500 (G VII-G500) jet costing Rs 11 billion.

She has to pay the balance Rs 53 million. (Rs 5 crores 30 lacs).

The Gulfstream G500 (G VII-G500) opearting cost is Rs 4.5 million per hour, assuming the aircraft is used 300 hours per year. (If it is used less, the per hour cost will increase. Operating cost includes fuel, parts consumption, depreciation, insurance etc.)
* remember, the 2 pilots are foreigners being paid in US dollars.

Travel time from Lahore to London and back to Lahore is 16 hours.

Therefore 16 hrs x Rs 4,500,000 = Rs 72,000,000 (Rs 7 crores 20 lacs).

Add the parking fee of the aircraft at London = Rs 3,500,000 (Rs 35 lacs)

Add the crew and staff TA/DA = Rs 5,000,000 (Rs 50 lacs)

Total cost = Rs 80,500,000 (Rs 8 crores 5 lacs).

Maryam Nawaz's Annual Return filed with the ECP should be cross checked for the amount so that it can be ascertined that she had the money in her accounts or cash-in-hand to be able to pay the FULL Rs 80,500,000 (Rs 8 crore 5 lacs).

Otherwise a reference can be filed against her under Sections 137, 173 and 174 of the Elections Act, 2017, read with Article 63(1)(p), Article 63(2)/(3) of the Constitution leading to her disqualification and conviction. @PTIofficial

PAKISTAN: The Supreme Court's order today granting bail to human rights lawyers Imaan-Mazari Hazir and Hadi Ali Chattha, and the suspension of their sentence, is a welcome step and a long overdue relief towards undoing immense injustice against them. Imaan and Hadi have been unlawfully imprisoned for nearly eight months as a result of their human rights work.

Amnesty International urges the authorities to immediately and unconditionally release them, quash their sentences and ensure that no new charges are brought against them to unlawfully deny them their right to liberty.

A major scandal has surfaced in Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs over the attestation of citizens’ documents.

An internal inquiry report obtained by Geo News alleges that Rs12 billion was illegally collected from citizens in one year through unlawful channels for document attestation.

The four-member committee, headed by DG Audit & Inspection Dr Ahmed Ali Sarohi, identified a “mafia” allegedly involved in collecting money from the public.

According to the report:
-Citizens were allegedly charged up to Rs800,000 for using illegal channels for document attestation.
-The report names and records statements of officials allegedly linked to the network.
-An official working in the Foreign Secretary’s Office is among those named.
-DGs of different wings, a former Additional Secretary and former diplomats are also mentioned.
-Officials say a private courier company allegedly had links with a Ministry official.
-The report was sent to the Foreign Secretary’s Office in July but, according to sources, was not forwarded to NAB or another investigative agency.
-Despite the committee’s recommendations, several officials allegedly linked to the matter were later posted abroad.
