You ever notice how some people sellā¦
ā¦and thatās the exact moment the coin decides to send?
Appreciate the sacrifice.
Time for the pressure cooker to explode.
$COOKWARE
Made my first million at 20 years old⦠and then lost it all.
Hereās my journey as a trader since then.
I was just a broke college kid, doordashing and instacarting to get by, when one of my friends made $400k on $GME in 2020. Thatās when I started looking for the next GME and came across $AMC.
I became obsessed with $AMC. I was literally dreaming about the potential of making as much as my friend did. For the next 6 months, I went all in on research ā Reddit, Twitter, YouTube, every platform you can think of. I looked into short interest, which hedge funds were short, everything. I even woke up at 3am every day to check the Germanyās $amc price since it opened before premarket.
It was a war. Institutional money vs retail retail.
I was a Discord mod š in an AMC community with over 20k people. It felt like a team ā we were all in it together to make money and take down hedge funds.
And yeah⦠hedge funds were doing everything possible to manipulate the price. Removing the buy button on $GME/$AMC, manipulating prices, short interest⦠all of it. (fuck them)
From January 2021, I was all in on AMC.
I doordashed, pushed shopping carts, used my covid stimulus, unemployment checks ā everything I had. My entire net worth (~24k at the time) went into naked $AMC 40c calls (basically the riskiest, far out calls that could easily expire worthless).
But I had conviction in the short squeeze.
Then it happened.
In June 2021, $AMC went from ~$3 to $80. My options exploded. Around 24k turned into 2.2M at peak.
But I made the mistake a lot of new traders make⦠I didnāt cashed out. Being in a state of euphoria thinking AMC will hit hundreds. I rode it all the way down and ended up round-tripping most of the profits. I even brought in family and friends near the top, and they lost money too.
That part still sits with me.
For the next year, I tried to day trade my way back to that peak⦠and just kept losing.
There were times I felt the lowest Iāve ever felt. Thinking about what life wouldāve been if I just sold⦠It messed with me badly. (almost suicidal thoughts at times, throwing up from stress)
But I didnāt quit.
I stopped feeling sorry for myself and started looking at it as paying the market ātuitionā (yeah⦠expensive one) to actually learn how to trade.
I realized day trading naked options with theta decay was completely against my edge. So I started exploring other markets.
Thatās when crypto caught my attention.
With $DOGE going crazy, I started diving in and fell in love with it. At the time, it felt way less manipulated than the stock market.
One day I saw a tweet from @degenharambe about a new memecoin called $PEPE. The CA ended in 69⦠I aped in early. I was one of the first ~500 holders at ~3M market cap.
$PEPE ran to 500M on its first leg and I actually sold near the top.
That trade reminded me how important taking profit is.
Now I had capital again.
When people say one trade can change your life, itās true. You just have to stay active and keep your eyes peeled.
ETH on-chain became my playground. I loved being early ā ahead of institutions, with the goal of eventually selling to them.
Some notable trades: $MOG, $SPX, $JOE.
Over time, I made back a lot of what I lost from AMC. More importantly, I kept learning ā removing emotion, focusing on entries and exits.
Then SOL started heating up with $BONK.
Just like I did with AMC, I looked for the next runner and found $WIF.
2024 SOL environment was insane.
I caught $POPCAT, $GOAT, $ARC, $PNUT, $URO, ⦠and honestly hundreds more early. It was probably the easiest trading environment Iāve ever experienced.
At that point, I had made everything back⦠and more.
2025 was solid too, but yeah⦠I missed $TRUMP (rip).
As SOL cooled off, I tried some plays on BNB/Base but nothing crazy. You could feel on-chain traders leaving as volume declined.
Lessons from all of this:
-While you need focus, you also need a broad perspective. You have to adapt.
-Being a contrarian has given me the best R/R. Most of my biggest wins come from going against the crowd.
-When you hear the news, youāre already late.
-In uptrends, I look to short where everyone is fomoing.
-In downtrends, I look to long where everyone is panic selling.
Eventually I transitioned more into perps and leverage trading. At that point it felt second nature.
With enough screen time, a chart is a chart.
You start to understand price action ā every candle has intent behind it.
Perps are volatile. I made a lot, lost some, adjusted sizing, lowered leverage. If Iām going full size, I DCA into tops for shorts and bottoms for longs because you canāt perfectly time entries. I started using higher timeframes, adjusting based on portfolio size.
Most size plays are just the majors $btc $eth $sol
Perps gave me the ability to size properly with deep liquidity, which was refreshing compared to on-chain.
As I got more comfortable, I expanded back into tradfi ā equities and options. $spy $spx $qqq
Now I trade more like the house.
I write options. Theta decay used to be my biggest enemy⦠now itās an edge.
I trade every day (even if that means ā just watching).
Equities, options, perps, on-chain, commodities, metals, currencies ā everything.
I just follow where volatility and attention are.
I havenāt been active on X for awhile, but Iām going to change that. (having a following is valuable and have opened up a lot of opportunities even with the small following I have)
Iāll also start sharing my best setups. I hate when people lose money on my bad trades ā honestly more than I hate losing my own.
Itās stressful, but when you get it right, itās worth it.
There was one dm when from a dad who told me he was able to pay for his daughterās chemo with the trade idea I shared
Something like that puts everything into perspective.
If I can help even one person, thatās worth it.
Iām grateful for the journey ā the lessons, the friends I made along the way.
I stay humble because I know I can lose it all again with just one bad trade leading to a series of multiple bad trades.
If you made it this far, thank you for reading hopefully there was at least 1 thing to takeaway
I hope traders who sticks through the ups and downs will make it and have it all worthwhile, it is one of the most mentally challenging path one can pick, but also can be the most rewarding
Good luck and see you in the orderbooks š¤
