Valco hoisted his travel bag onto the overhead luggage rack and settled into his seat. Leaning against the window, he watched the bustle outside—the endless stream of people dragging heavy suitcases behind them, saying their goodbyes to loved ones, and climbing aboard the train.

The seat beside him remained empty, and he found himself oddly disappointed. He’d always enjoyed chatting with fellow passengers; it made long journeys pass much faster.

With only a few minutes left before departure, he heard a rustle beside him.

A young woman, slightly out of breath, effortlessly lifted her small suitcase onto the rack above before letting out a relieved sigh and dropping into the seat next to him.

The moment she sat down, it felt as though lightning had struck him.

Mate.

She was his mate.

There she was, sitting right beside him.

He’d waited for this for so long.

His eyes shimmered with a brilliant golden glow, like liquid sunlight. He couldn’t tear his gaze away from her.

Then again, he was completely spellbound.

What else could you call destiny finally taking shape before your eyes?

Feeling his stare, the woman offered him an awkward little smile before slipping her earbuds into her ears.

‘Shit. Stop staring’, Valco scolded himself, forcing his eyes elsewhere.

‘She’s going to think you’re some kind of deranged creep’

‘No, no… what do I do?’ the wolf inside him whined.

‘Come on, you’ve waited your whole damn life for this. You cannot screw it up. Think.’

But thinking was impossible.

His mind was drowning in euphoria.

In her scent.

In the overwhelming realization that fate itself was sitting only inches away.

‘Fuck… she’s putting her hair up. I’m done for.’

Valco nearly whimpered as she twisted her hair into a loose bun. Every instinct in his body was drawn toward the warmth radiating from her, toward her scent that wrapped around his senses until it was all he could breathe.

And her exposed neck…

It called to him with a primal intensity, every instinct urging him to sink his teeth into it and claim her as his forever.

‘Idiot. Get those thoughts out of your head!’ he shouted at himself, desperately gathering the last scraps of his self-control.

‘Breathe. Just breathe.’

He took a slow, deep breath.

Terrible idea.

Her scent flooded his lungs, wrapped around his thoughts, and settled deep inside his chest.

With a quiet groan, Valco rested his forehead against the cool train window as the carriage finally lurched into motion.

‘For the love of—this is the happiest moment of your life. Don’t you dare ruin it.’

He clenched his fists until his knuckles turned white before allowing himself one more cautious glance in her direction.

‘Good Lord… she’s beautiful.’

‘And she’s mine.’

‘My mate.’

‘I want to shout it to the whole world.’

Instead, Valco sat there grinning at the seat in front of him like a complete fool hopelessly drunk on love.

The woman pulled out her phone and began scrolling through one of her playlists.

‘I wonder what she listens to…’ he thought.

‘I want to know everything about her.’

Unable to stop himself, he stole a quick glance at her screen just as the song title appeared.

‘No way.’

‘That’s my favorite song!’

His heart nearly leaped out of his chest.

‘Maybe I should pull out my phone too… play the same song… casually let her notice my screen…’

For one glorious second, the idea sounded absolutely brilliant.

Then reality caught up with him.

‘No. Absolutely not.’

‘She’ll think you’re an obsessive psycho, and that’ll be the end of it.’

He resisted the overwhelming urge to repeatedly slam his forehead into the seat in front of him.

‘Come on, man! Pull yourself together.’

‘You’re the chairman of a damn corporation. What the hell are you doing?’

‘Talking to people is literally your specialty.’

Before he could spiral any further, the train’s speakers crackled to life with an announcement. The woman slipped one earbud out so she could listen.

‘This is it.’

‘Your chance.’

‘Don’t blow it.’

After one last silent pep talk, Valco drew in a steady breath and turned toward her, wearing the warmest, most charming smile he could possibly manage.

There was no backing out now.

‘Hi,’ he said, his voice calm and gentle—as if he hadn’t spent the last several minutes completely losing his mind. ‘I’m Valco. Would you mind if we talked for a while?’

For a split second, she looked surprised.

His heart stopped.

Then she smiled.

To him, it was the most beautiful smile he’d ever seen.

‘I was beginning to think you were never going to ask,’ she teased with a quiet laugh. ‘I actually love chatting with people on trains.’

Relief washed over him so suddenly that he nearly laughed.

‘See?’, his wolf purred smugly, ‘She’s perfect.’

‘I noticed.’

‘Tell her she’s our mate.’

‘Absolutely not.’

‘Bite her, then.’

‘Absolutely not!’

His wolf huffed dramatically.

‘You’re no fun.’

Rant, tw: SA, miscarriage, animal abuse.

I have pretty thick skin when it comes to internet hate.

Years of being in fandoms with intense ship wars have rendered me pretty much immune to it, and though I make a point of staying out of the drama that happens on here every other week, I have received a fair share of negative attention during my time here too.

To cherry-pick but a few, when GOA was released, as a Zayne main I was told that I must enjoy being SA'd.

When I defended the right for fanfiction authors to choose whether they or not they wanted critical feedback on the work that they shared for free, someone told me they hoped I'd miscarry my baby.

And more recently, probably because of my very loud support for Valko, I was asked to write fanfiction about myself being stalked and SA'd.

I've known this fandom has been hell for a long time, but the thing is, I have the luxury of being behind a screen, a block button and the ability to defend myself if I want to.

A small animal that trusted a human enough to let it take them into their home, only to be abused and murdered, cannot.

And this is where I draw the fucking line.

Enough is enough.

OG5 truther/Valko anti or not, this shit has gone too far.

If the cow dung, harassment of Infold's staff and the relentless bullying of anyone who showed interest in Valko were not enough for you, actual living things are being harmed now, and if you choose to stand idly by because this behaviour has "benefitted" you and your main, then in my eyes, you are no better than they are.

Yes, I am well aware that these people are a very small fucked up minority, but minorities become louder when they believe they have people cheering them on, excusing them, or looking the other way.

Anyone in this fandom with a fucking soul should be condemning this behaviour because Infold sure aren't.

And speaking of @Love_Deepspace, shame on you.

Shame on you for staying silent, for pandering to the bullies whose actions have gone far beyond anything that could ever be considered normal.

Because if they hurt innocent animals over a fictional character and the poor management of your company, then who knows what they'll do when they don't get something that actually fucking matters.
