‼️ACCUSED KILLER FLEES THE COUNTRY

Lee Gilley is charged with capital murder in the death of his wife, Christa Gilley, who was 8 weeks pregnant when she was killed inside their Houston Heights home in October 2024.

He was still released on a $1 million bond with an ankle monitor. Here’s what people don’t realize: in Texas, those monitors are often handled by private third-party companies. When someone tampers with one, alerts don’t always result in immediate law enforcement action. There can be delays in notification, verification, and response.

That gap gave a capital murder defendant enough time to cut off his monitor, leave Texas, cross into Canada, and make it all the way to Italy before authorities caught up. Prosecutors had previously raised concerns that he was planning to flee, and he did.

Now his bond is revoked and the extradition process begins which can take months as agencies work through international legal channels to bring him back, while promising not to give him the death penalty. Shameful.

Christa had no chance to escape. Her unborn child had no chance to live.

But the man accused of taking both of their lives had plenty of time to run.

He now has a warrant and his bond has been revoked.

He’s facing trial in the 497th District Court under Judge Peyton Peebles.
