One moment that changed my views on politics and shaped me and my understanding of how quickly celebrity molds people, because I was there, behind the scenes:

I KNOW the photos at the fences AOC took were staged! I remember getting the photos to push for BNC, and I was like, "I don't know about this."

Why was I struck? Because I knew she skipped the actual rally at a detention center in Texas that fellow BNC slate members Anthony Clark, Cori Bush, and Amy Vilela went to, which she was also scheduled to go to but canceled due to an interview she had booked on a late-night talk show that night.

I don't know what her emotions were. I can't say if those were inauthentic. I can say her team saw this as an opportunity. As a photo-op. This was politics as usual.

There were many moments, but that was one where I knew in my bones that she would sell the movement down the river for her own political advancement.
