@LordByron101 you’re asking too much of these people, I think. They’ll just repeat “basic biology” and “common sense”, and call it a day. If only they knew lol :sigh: As a professional from both education and health, it’s sad, actually, very sad.
Right! Because THAT’S the only science we’ve got; THAT’S what’s important! Our BONES!
Seriously.
You never stop to think that JUST MAYBE that won’t be relevant in the future, or, perhaps, we would use a different term… like “biologically female”? …which doesn’t contradict trans people’s existence and doesn’t justify the hate in any way, shape or form.
You all just choose to be hateful and cherry-pick your “science.” You don’t read, ever, about science. We are much more complex than BONES.
I believe your recent comments reveal a profound misunderstanding — not only of gender identity itself, but also of the decades of scholarship, research, and critical thought that have explored these topics in depth. I’dlike to politely encourage you to step outside the echo chamber that frames this discussion in combative and reductionist terms.
It is... challenging to have a coherent debate with someone whose starting point is the general denial of trans existence, or who reduces trans people to deluded, dangerous, or lesser individuals. If that is your stance, there may be little I can say to change your mind. What I can do, however, is point you toward the actual sources of information that shape our understanding of gender today. Gender identity is not some fringe invention, nor a quasi-religious belief imposed by activists.
While I can agree that academic discourse can sometimes feel elitist or disconnected from everyday life, the concept of gender identity arises from rich and evolving fields like gender studies, queer theory, feminist theory, and sociology. These fields have spent over half a century critically examining the relationship between sex, gender, culture, and identity — often through rigorous, evidence-based, and self-reflective scholarship. Scholars such as Judith Butler, Nikki Sullivan, Susan Stryker, Dimitris Evripidou, Michael Warner, Elizabeth Meyer, Deborah Britzman, Anne Fausto-Sterling, and Kevin Kumashiro (among many others) have challenged simplistic binaries — not to erase biological sex (one common misconception is that trans people deny the concept of sex – they do not.), but to explore how the meanings we attach to sex and gender are constructed, policed, and experienced differently across history, cultures, and personal contexts. It’s also worth noting that gender identity — the deeply-felt sense of one’s gender — is recognised by major medical, psychological, and human rights organisations around the world, including the World Health Organization and the American Psychological Association.
This is not about "feelings trumping facts," but about understanding that human beings are more complex than simple biological reductionism allows. (On that note, I’ve always wondered why TERFs and bigots fail to recognise that their belief systems are also rooted in feelings — fear, disgust, discomfort — rather than some grasp of objective reality. After all, all knowledge arises from curiosity and critical thinking, or at least, it should.)
Suppose you truly value education and critical thinking. In that case, I warmly invite you to engage directly with the foundational texts and research — not the social media soundbites or selective misquotes that often circulate to discredit these fields. Below, I’ve quickly gathered a reading list (among my still limited knowledge of the subject) that covers empirical research, theory, and social analysis. I hope you will approach it not as a demand for agreement, but as an opportunity to learn about where we come from.

Finally, as someone who grew up with Harry Potter, I want to remind you of something your own work taught me: Hogwarts was meant to be a place where everyone belonged — Muggle-borns, outsiders, and outcasts alike… You wrote about chosen families, the fight against prejudice, and the bravery of standing up for the most vulnerable. That’s why it’s so heartbreaking to see you turning your back on those very principles. Trans people exist — whether you acknowledge their existence or not. And just as your stories challenge authoritarianism and narrow-minded dogma, they also taught me that people can change — if they dare to listen and learn.
@BrandonLBradfor @SirHowardCoward You gotta love the “uhm, actually” replies trying to justify symbols of oppression and hate (that yes, were previously used in different contexts but are clearly reappropriated in our history for different reasons).
@Itsonemore23@AestheticGamer1 How old are you? “WOKE” has been around in gaming since pretty much polygons started to be a thing.
And… how many lost their jobs BECAUSE of DEI again? To my knowledge this actually provided job opportunities, fairer ones.
@DFEAZY@AestheticGamer1@Arnaud_dekeyser Because there are still people like you who perpetuate and mock social and cultural discrimination that has been around for countless years in our history. Historically discriminated groups are not a joke.
Why do bigots believe this?
The goal is not to prioritize anything but to level the scales; a fairer society where everyone is considered and validated.
And the change of policy is because a great amount of people are just racist, sexist and -phobic, and they need the money of these people too. Do you think companies care about white CIS people?
Trans people are valid, their rights are human rights. Many are very rad if you actually get to know them.
White supremacy & racism are bad.
DEI is to protect against bigotry, the attack against it is a thin veil for white supremacy power.
Immigrants helped make America great.
@disisthancred A couple of days ago I saw this for the first time in a while. I was quite surprised to see this in a community that was so respectful of other people’s experiences.
