@phaneritic@sfchronicle Other than on its flanks, where bedrock may be reached by digging a 1-2 m trench, trenching in the Napa Valley will tell you little about terroir, other than when the river flooded, it randomly deposited cobbles of Sonoma Volcanics, Franciscan metasandstone, and serpentinite.
@_Sackung Super subduction zone ophiolites don’t need to be obducted. They form in the overriding plate following subduction initiation and trench roll back.
@RobbCA I can sympathize, even empathize. Seems like one day you are a 60+ miles/week, 3 hour marathoner. Then you barely can jog 10 miles/week at a pace not much faster than a brisk walk. Aging is cruel.
