Nobody hates Philadelphia sports teams as much as Philadelphia sports fans and people don’t quite understand that. I’ve never hated you more and I want you to win every game you ever play ever.
Lots of Phillies fans saying Aaron Nola is the only one with heart and guts on this team. They're right and that's because he's homegrown. Not the same when you're a free agent mercenary. Also why you need to develop your own talent
Happy birthday to This Man, Bobby Shantz, who turns a hundred-and-freaking-one years old today!
Shantz was the 1952 AL MVP (74 years ago!!!) and won 8 Gold Gloves. Imagine how good a fielder you need to be to win a Gold Glove as a relief pitcher?
At the beginning of his career, Shantz was managed by Connie Mack, who was born during the Civil War in 1862, before the invention of breakfast cereal and the modern bowling ball.
I suppose Bobby's numbers aren't quite Cooperstown-worthy, but they're damn close, and putting him in on a veterans ballot wouldn't cheapen the place by any stretch. He could pitch, he could field, and he gives hope to every 5-foot-6, 139-pound southpaw out there.
Oldest living MVP.
Oldest living Yankee.
Only living Philly Athletic.
What a baseball life. We celebrate Bobby today!

How can you not be romantic about baseball
