’Twas the night before kickoff, and all through the Y, Not a Cougar was stirring beneath the night sky; The helmets were hung in the lockers with care, In hopes that game day soon would be there.
The players were nestled all snug in their beds, While visions of touchdowns danced in their heads; And Kalani with game plans, the coaches nearby, Had settled things down for the eve at the Y.
When out by the stadium arose such a clatter, I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter; Away to the window I flew like a flash, Threw open the curtains and lifted the sash.
The moon in the sky was brilliant and white, While Y Mountain glowed in the cool autumn night; When what to my wondering eyes should appear, But LaVell Edwards Stadium, awaiting the year.
The field lay in silence, the blue seats were bare, But somehow you knew there were memories there; For Saturdays past seemed to rise from the ground, And echoes of Cougar greats gathered around.
For this wasn't just football, one game or one year, There were echoes of Cougars that still lingered here; Of quarterbacks, champions, and Saturdays past, Of a program whose memories were built to last.
There was Bosco and ’84, finishing number one, A perfect twelve victories when all had been done; There was Detmer, the Heisman, with passes that flew, And Saturdays painted in white and in blue.
And there stood LaVell, at least so it seemed, The coach who built more than his players had dreamed; His name on the stadium, his mark on the game, And decades of Cougars still honor his name.
Then down from the mountain there came such a roar, A sound Cougar faithful had all heard before; “Rise up!” came the cry, growing louder and strong, And soon all of Provo had joined in the song.
“Now Bear! Now Martin! Now Uluave too! Now Phillips! Now Glasker! Go Cougars, break through! From the line of scrimmage, clear down to the goal, Now dash away! Crash away! Give it your soul!”
The Cougar Tails waiting, the blue flags unfurled, And Cosmo preparing to leap, flip, and twirl; While thousands together, both young and the old, Will rise up and shout as they've always been told.
Tomorrow the Trailblazers come into town, And Cougar blue faithful will all gather ’round; The flags will be waving, the student section loud, As the Cougars take field to the roar of the crowd.
The long summer’s over. The waiting is through. Once more there is football in Provo—it’s true; The Big Twelve awaits, and the road stretches far, But tomorrow it starts underneath Utah stars.
There'll be third downs and touchdowns and tackles and cheers, And moments we'll talk about long after this year; New names will be written with legends of old, And stories tomorrow are waiting untold.
So tonight Provo slumbers beneath mountain light, While the field waits in silence for one final night; But I heard one last cry as Cosmo flew by—
“Rise and shout, Cougar fans—
and to all a good night!”

2015 @ Nebraska. Throwing it back to the other day, that was the game that solidified my fandom. I was at work. In Missouri. My coworker and I were both members of the church and watching the game on the computer. A family walks in the play before the miracle, turns out they were BYU fans from Utah and we all went nuts! Unforgettable!
@BYUSportsNation This isn't fair. I was at the Arkansas game and, man. To see that catch in person was something special. But then again, I have no doubt the same was true about the Allgeier punch out... But I wasn't there. 😉
world when we're seeing countless fan signs in the stands calling for Santiago's resignation. There's blood in the water and if one has to go, it's Brian Santiago.
I'll say what guys like @LockedOnCougars@LOBig12 and others can't, because relationships are important to maintain in their profession, but are saying if you read between the lines: Yes, the showdown between Kalani and AD Santiago is real and a real problem.
Santiago. Kalani has all the support in the world and Santiago doesn't have a leg to stand on at this point. He's all but lost every bit of leverage he has. For him it's capitulate or lose his job. If this isn't wrapped up by game day, I will be the least surprised person in the
I don't need to wait for an autopsy to know that no matter the cause of death, Hollywood killed Hayden Panettiere.
Awful lot of "coincidences" around her time of death, IMO.
Rest in peace, Hayden. You are no longer troubled or in pain. May God comfort your daughter right now.
