Being a nurse is all fun & games until you’re talking to someone who is convinced they don’t have acid reflux & all the acid they’re throwing up is from their lungs. If they say lung vomit one more time…
@fisherco@tessgerritsen Nice! My holds are the same way. They take months to come in but they all seem to be ready within a couple of days of each other so I’m scrambling to read them all
It makes me kind of sad when patients are so thankful that they’re spoken to with kindness & respect. I’ve had several new patients this week comment on how nice everyone in our clinic has been & how that isn’t always their experience
It’s not just hospitals having staffing issues. I called multiple hospice/palliative care places & all said they are experiencing low staffing so they can’t accept new pts or limited coverage areas. Spending 3+ hours making calls & not getting a pt the care they need is a bummer
So many people testing positive for the flu right now & calling in to demand antibiotics. It’s only Wednesday & I’m tired of arguing with them. It’s going to be a long flu season…
It’s been almost 5 months since my accident & I still can’t walk normally. PT has helped but I’m so frustrated that my leg isn’t back to what it was. I’m afraid this is as good as it gets & I’ll be limited in what I can do going forward
It’s Monday & it seems like most of our pts are sick. All the same symptoms, - for flu/Covid. They keep asking for antibiotics or “that Covid treatment” when they’re told it’s likely the virus going around that’s causing URI. I only work 2 days this week & it’s already too much
Spent my morning arguing with a patient about whether CT scans are just to find tumors. No matter how much education I did, they are adamant someone told them CTs can’t find anything except tumors. We agreed to disagree & they are not getting the scan
@GMTminus7 Hahaha. True. In this case, a lot of our pulmonary hypertension patients use(d) meth & need extensive dental work. They call us with questions 😂
I have a weekly conference with our multidisciplinary team for one of my clinics & I’m so done with some of these doctors. My helpful contributions today have been “oh did you want something other than the chest imaging you asked for?” & “what on earth are you talking about?”
Pt’s spouse called to tell us that the pt coughed up 6 liters of blood at home then the ED found blood in their stool. 1) this sounds like a GI bleed & not a pulmonary issue but 2) I’m seriously questioning how they measured the blood that came up
