👇Well written observation of the upper echelons of this "art movement", which is akin to a circle-jerk of Porsche owners, only that it is Fidenzas and Punks instead of luxury cars.
Certain collectors here (with few exceptions of course) may think of themselves as patrons of the arts, while in reality they are just luxury shoppers flaunting wealth for notoriety.
They turned what initially started as a promising endeavor into a self-aggrandizing borefest, unattractive for any serious art collector and artist alike to participate in.

I really think I would have had it if I hadn’t been wearing cowboy boots, but that’s also the only reason I didn’t break my ankles, so they’re a mixed bag.
I’m so happy to see this video, because one time another guy and I had an unoccupied stalled car in neutral that got away from us on a slight incline, and in attempting to chase it down I got ahold of the steering wheel then promptly tripped and got my legs run over exactly like this.
I’ve never seen it happen to someone else; this felt very validating.
For the record mine was slightly more dramatic than this; the incline put on a lot of speed and I got tumbled under the back tire a bit lol

“…none of this needs a summit. It needs the people with money to spend some of it differently.”
“…and let me be precise: posting is not patronage. A spotlight feeds an artist's reach. Only a purchase feeds the artist. Some of the big voices (although not enough) occasionally point at small work—a kind word, a repost, a gm. That costs nothing, but it also changes nothing.”
“…the person who buys one great cheap piece is exactly who this movement needs ten thousand more of.”
By far one of the most thoughtful long-form writings I’ve read about this space in years. Highly encourage everyone to sit down somewhere quiet and give this article the time it deserves. So many great points made by @sjf_keef.
