@GrindLinePod Speaking of Walman, I wonder if the Larkin situation finally explains what really happened with Jake and Vrana (other than Vrana's substance problems)
@BentleyScotty@wxcameron I've never heard anyone talk about a player requesting a trade publicly killing their value. And its clear that part of the Wings failure is likely due to Larkin wanting out since 2023 during the difficult contract talks. Larkin and Detroit both need a change of scenery.
@DasHaas7@RyanHanaWWP Same, plus Larkin would replace him as 2C taking weight off of him and Utah was just in the playoffs
Logan would be our 1C and can produce more with Raymond on his wing, change of scenery can help both players, I dont see a downside to the trade honestly
@BradKrysko If we only get picks and futures and not another 1st line center all star to replace him, Yzerman and everyone in the front office needs to be fired immediately. You cannot trade Larkin for futures and go into another rebuild.
@ProfessorLGRW The guy scores 10 points after we traded him (finishing the season with 13) and people act like we got rid of an important part of the team π€£ He can't produce and is a defensive liability
@a_schmid17@champletics Agreed, I dont see a reason to let him go, especially when he loves it here. We should just keep him until he is ready to sign a 1 year with Chicago to retire, IF he even wants to do that
@McCartyDangles Problem is no one can predict if a player will perform well or not when signing them or trading for them, you either get lucky or you dont. If you get a guy because he can produce, then he flops, thats not a bad trade/signing, the guy just didnt live up to expectations.
@KailerMemeamoto They have an award for points, called the Art Ross. The Norris should go to the best DEFENSEMAN, not the defenseman with the most points
@GrindLinePod@deannak14 I dont care about his age or hip, you CANNOT replace his production, especially when he scored more points than at least 3-4 players COMBINED
We dont need him to score 80+ points, we need him to be as productive as he has been and be the mentor he's being.
@ProfessorLGRW I also love the people citing that he needs to make a big move or didnt, as if he hasn't been trying. A big move needs to make sense for right now AND the future, not just a quick playoff visit to scratch an itch.
@McCartyDangles Agreed, idc about his age or bionic hip, losing him would only create more holes to fill, which would likely cost more than just re-signing him
@JimCosta_ I'd resign him, put him on the 3rd line. We need to see someone else play with Cat, we cant keep the two together just for nostalgia. Does it work? Some times, but we need new lines & a 200ft younger player on the 2nd line. He has more points than Ras, Apple, & Kasper combined.
@tim_c_23 Maybe its not a coaching issue, it has to be something within that locker room. Look at the Walman situation, he said something and got traded, but we never knew what he said. Is it Larkin? Is the culture of the team just that bad? Who knows.
