Year 2 finished their art unit on painting and mixed media by creating a space themed collage. They found or created all the different materials they used in their final pieces.
Year 4 have been investigating gases and whether gases weigh anything. We also spoke about what makes our fizzy drinks 'fizz' and conducted an experiment to see how much they weight flat compared to fizzy.
Year 4 celebrated world book day this year by creating a seasonal poem of their choice. We then painted our chosen season using watercolour as a background for our poem.
Year 4 had lots of fun on our residential to Standon Bowers last week. All of the children were brilliantly behaved and took part in all of the different activities. We took part in caving, caveman activities, fire lighting and den building, as well as a night time campfire.
This morning Year 6 have experimented in art, creating tools using natural materials found outside to create patterns inspired by works of the Mayan civilization.
On Tuesday, year 4 had great fun visualising how the digestive system works. We looked at all the different steps of how our food enters our bodies and exits!
What a fantastic musical Christmas we’ve enjoyed at Excalibur. From a feel good Boogie Woogie Nativity by EYFS and Key Stage 1, a spectacular Christmas celebration at St Mary’s Church by Key stage 2 to brilliant performances from our Rock Steady and Music for Life performers.
On Wednesday, the Reception children had a fabulous time sharing their lunch time with a special grownup. Everyone tucked into a delicious all day breakfast followed by fruit and flapjack.
Year 6 are having a superb time at Robinwood. They have taken part in a variety of activities already, including the giant swing, zip wire and even a piranha pool. The food is also excellent! More updates to follow.
Thursday 20th October
After only being in school for 7 weeks, our Reception class took to the stage to perform 2 poems “ Chop chop” and “A Basket Of Apples” in front of a live audience! They showed tremendous resilience, unity and confidence. Well done Reception.
On Thursday, we welcomed parents and carers into school to celebrate Harvest. Reverend Pete Howard thanked the parents for their generosity in all of the overwhelming donations for the Alsager food bank. The children sang, danced and told us why Harvest is important.
This week, Year 6 have been busy working on the ROAR Project, a national challenge to devise an innovative solution to a problem of their choice. They also worked on advertising and creating their own prototype for the idea. Well done, Year 6!
It was brilliant to see so many of our choir at the One World Festival on Saturday. The children performed beautifully. Many thanks to everyone who was able to support their children at the event. It was great to see so many of you there.
We would like to send a great big thank you to all parents and members of our school community who helped at our Summer Fair. With your help, we raised a fantastic £1722.10 which will be used to provide additional opportunities and experiences for our children. Thank you all!
Year 2 had a great morning coding with Raj using Cospaces. They created some great underwater scenes and used coding to make the creatures around the scene.
Our Key Stage 1 children enjoyed a lively assembly delivered by Toby the T-Rex and his team! The Health and Wellbeing team from Cheshire East talked about the importance of good hand hygiene and then demonstrated how to achieve this with a catchy song!
