Inspiring day at the #ThrivingChildren2024 conference!
Agree for so many reasons with Ken Snyder’s statement that “There isn’t a harder job in the world than taking care of kids all day long.”
This work is hard because it’s SO important!
Helpful insight about communicating the importance of early childhood from the “Sharing Your Story” breakout session:
“Lead with what is possible, not what is wrong.”

Since 2000, more than 37,000 NICU babies have been helped by an innovative program that tracks their development and offers help to families. A good read from @OWHnews featuring the good work of partners like @NDE_GOV, @NEDHHS, @unmc_mmi, and more. https://t.co/nrsyi6tJqj
Came home with a full page of notes after the @BuffettECI PD for All Community Panel, but one of the most powerful statements was this:
“I needed someone to see Joshua…they just saw the behaviors.”
Engaging in supportive dialogue about challenging behaviors is so important.
This World Mental Health Day, we need to share the message that mental health disorders are real, common, and treatable. We must collectively focus our resources and energy on supporting our kids and creating scalable solutions that will reach children everywhere. It’s essential for young people who are struggling to know that support is available and to empower our youth to help us find the answers.
At the Child Mind Institute, our expert clinicians provide care and inform our free public education resources, while our teams of scientists dedicate themselves to understanding the developing brain more deeply. But we also recognize how important it is to listen to what young people have to say, and let them be part of the solution.
We’re honored to mark this World Mental Health Day by convening a panel this afternoon with Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff and U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy, who will join two teenage members of our Youth Council to discuss the mental health challenges that today’s youth face — and what we can all do to support them.
We encourage everyone in our communities to watch and share the recap and recording for essential insights into solving the youth mental health crisis. Keep an eye on our social media channels or look for an email for free access to the recording.
Together, we can build a world where kids everywhere can thrive, and where no child or family struggles with mental health challenges alone. Thank you for joining all of us at the Child Mind Institute in this essential fight.
It’s @WeCareforKidsNE Week!🎉Proud to be part of the effort to build support for quality ECE. Working toward the day when this becomes an instinctive part of our mindset and embedded in all we do as a community. Every week should be We Care for Kids Week!👶🏼👧🏻👦🏽🧒🏼
@BuffettECI A5: I would love to continue to share information, build relationships, and find out more about what others in the field are seeing & doing through any means possible…Twitter, email, in-person trainings, video chats, etc! #PDforAll
@BuffettECI A6: I always try to remind myself that children are the future of OUR community, and a strong community can start with just a few people who are invested and want to make a difference. Even small steps lead to progress! #PDforAll
@BuffettECI A3: Ongoing communication and a mutual understanding of both the school and community members’ roles and goals is so helpful for building and maintaining relationships! #PDforAll
Yesterday our Westside Pyramid Leadership team spent the day reviewing data, celebrating our successes, and planning for next year. This team continues to evolve and refine our work to build young children’s social-emotional development and address challenging behavior. #ECE
Strongly agree with Dr. Shonkoff that optimism isn’t enough. We need a “bold early childhood agenda” with new strategies & alliances. Also loved @WalterGilliam’s point that we need to think systemically about how to weave current services/programs into a wider fabric. #ECE
Connection. Impact. Relationships. Reinvigorating. These are just a few of the words that describe our NE EC Workforce Leadership Cadre meeting this weekend. I can already see the ripple effects. This group is going to change the early childhood world!
My experiences as a parent as well as my interactions with young children & families as part of my job continue to affirm the importance of the early years. Every child deserves a solid foundation!🧸🪁📔Happy #WOYC23!
