It's the most modern one in the country but struggling with plastic wrapping and poorly sorted waste. It felt like a @MrTaytoIreland wonderland. All packaging that can't be recycled.
Also Ireland has the highest plastic waste/capita😢

@biovoices I've seen berries in paper trays many times, usually farmers markets though.
The big question is if the packaging increases food waste on the way over from Spain and other countries?
So we don't reduce plastic on one side and increasing food waste on the other.

Now the problem is that industry funding is getting more important due to cuts in public funding - e.g. an institute at my uni has a 50% industry funding goal set by the government.

So informing people early on is the crucial.
Started my academic career biology because I was clueless after school. Only along the way I realise what I want.

@cjohnyrun @AcademicChatter @PhDForum Profs went down the academic road so it's not surprising they don't know alternatives.
With current numbers there are more PhDs than academic positions anyway. In our department the ratio is 1:5 for postdocs alone.
