Made these steamed piggy buns with peanut/sesame, red bean paste, and cinnamon sugar yam filling this weekend! All natural food coloring from purple and orange yams. Decorations took way too long but were absolutely delightful!

@TheSurajKannan And the worst part is that you go in thinking the doctors have your best interests at heart and completely trust their judgement on everything. I feel so betrayed realizing that I have to think about this as a savvy consumer in addition to being ill and scared.

Me visiting a hospital: vague description of "urine and blood tests" ➡️ surprisingly large bill two weeks later

I wish my doctors treated me like my cat.

I'm teaching an online class to high school students and flinch a little every time someone calls me "Mrs. Rui". Can't wait to finish this PhD and finally be able to go by "Dr. Rui" (and that also applies to all the in-laws sending Christmas cards to "Mrs. David Wilson")!

Teaching my first letter-graded course and the grade anxiety is real. Last night I received several indignant emails from a disgruntled parent (another first) complaining about the grading policy. I love teaching and interacting with students but this part of the job is not fun

The number of emails I've been getting about guidelines for resuming research at @JohnsHopkins is insane! Every one has a numbered list of at least 5 items and gets forwarded to me 3 times "just in case you didn't get this." I'm excited but overwhelmed!

My husband gives me a personalized calendar on the anniversary of our first date every year. Some months come with motivational messages. Amid all the craziness we're living through, it really brightened my day so see the one for June ❤️ @davidrwilson

I only learned about the June 4 protests after moving to the US and watching a documentary about it on PBS. Talked to my mom about the current protests in the US and was surprised to learn that my timid mother was one of these protesters 31 years ago!
