CREATING ANIMATION - PART #1 - Working in Scenes
A few years ago, there were hopes of creating an app that would walk kids through the process of pregnancy. Things fell through, but I still love the concept of using comic art or graphic novels to educate kids about science.
Ok, we're supposed to be all about science-based content, but I couldn't resist an opportunity to work with Tommy Caldwell of Hybrid Fitness in London ON.
My husband and I used to train there & we have nothing but admiration for Tommy & his staff!

In one of my first projects, I dove into determining whether we REALLY have an inner reptilian brain?
I dug into the literature.
Then, I made a video about it.
Oh, and there's a dragon in it!

Explainer videos are perfect for organizations which offer products, services or information that are not easy to clearly describe and are not intuitively understood by the average person.

The series of 60-SECOND SCIENCE VIDEOS we did with Scientific American was so fun! The deadlines were tight, but the collaboration was amazing!
Will it be the Legos required to build the Great Pyramid or the number of trees on Earth?

I think encouraging students to reach beyond academia & explaining their work to the public is hugely important & I was proud to be a part of this effort.
Kudos to the Ontario Institute for Regenerative Medicine for giving students the opportunity!

The videos we collaborated on with Scientific American were great for introducing people to new scientific concepts, theories & ideas.
OR, for providing a different spin on an old topic!

I worked in academia for many years, and I've always maintained that scientists need more of these kinds of experiences; to get out of the lab & start sharing their work with the world.
I'm happy to be part of that.

My first guest blog post from way back in 2015, complete with monstrous flowchart at the end of the article.
Attempts at keeping it simple were futile.
After all this time, I still have people reaching out to me with comments!
