Single-cell methods are becoming the norm, but what about proteins? Chirlmin Joo and colleagues provide a detailed survey of the emerging landscape of single-molecule protein sequencing technologies in a Review out today! https://t.co/GpgUfuiRND
For all microbiologists: mapping the DNA binding sites for 182 transcription factors of P. aeruginosa predicts their interactions with target genes. Browse this atlas to decipher the transcriptional networks regulating virulence mechanisms https://t.co/uTK3berNw6
A piece of unsolicited advice. Go out to coffee/ socially distanced walks with your scientist friends during the work day.
You get to have good conversation with nice people, come up with good ideas, and feel really great about the future of science.
A piece from @theindicator on the lab plastics shortage. We’ve never had this many items on back order before or needed to call about product lead times prior to submitting purchases. https://t.co/qG6uAfBy6P
@DrLindzyONeal @biochem_bri @ortega_science 1) check the lit to see if it’s been done before 2) Many rules and nuances so read the technical lit - start with a multiple sequence alignment, and build a tree (resources abundant). Use iTOL (simple interface) to annotate the tree. I would start by mapping species information.
Kevin Durant on not being able to get away from basketball due to the NBA’s COVID-19 protocols:
"I mean, shit. It's not that bad. We're making millions of dollars to hoop and do something we love every day. We'll figure the rest out."

It was great to share my results with the signal transduction community today. Reach out if you have any questions or want to chat about evolution, functional genomics, and biochemistry! @BlastMeetings
The first talk at #BLASTXVI today was by @ScienceBarbie who talked about evolutionarily driven domain swapping and how this changes the expression of genes. #BLASTSciArt
