New paper by the World’s most prominent climate scientists shows rapid acceleration of human-caused warming, with a warming rate now that tracks to near 2.4°C by 2050, far faster than was expected, if it continues.
From paper: “We are witnessing the rapid destabilization of the Earth’s climate system. This is no longer a warning for the future; it is a diagnosis of the present. Earth’s life-support systems are being pushed beyond stable limits, with changes unfolding faster than our ability to respond. Bot activity has plummeted because Zelensky has bombed Russian data centres. Lots of us have been warning about bots and disinformation for a decade or more.
Bots gave us Brexit, fanned climate denial, Reform and Trump.
The media ignored it. Govts and leaders pretended it wasn’t happening.

People must understand that the general public are in denial about how serious climate change is.

A very intelligent friend of mine basically was gently ribbing me about all the things I said that we’re going to happen, which haven’t happened, according to them - which wasn’t true. I’ve pointed out the things that are coming in decades.

I mentioned this summer - ? - and was told yes, it was quite hot, I’ll give you that.

People don’t understand we are at the beginning of unprecedented, historic, deadly, global change and nothing will be the same again.

We must stop lying to ourselves that people understand.

Imagine a smoke alarm that has been screaming for decades, while the people in the house argue about whether there’s really a fire.

The room gets hotter. The smoke gets thicker. The noise gets louder.

And instead of putting out the fire, they insist the alarm is lying, blame the people who installed it and argue that the house has always been this hot.
