Year 5 trip to the Science Museum was linked to their topic- Earth and Space. The children explored ‘The Wonderlab’ and were busy interacting with real scientific phenomena such as lightning strikes, playing forces on giant slides and travel through space under a canopy of stars.
Year 5 have been busy learning all about ways we can separate a mixture. In this session, the children looked at which types of paper will be the best filters and had to explain why. For each paper, they repeated this 3 times to ensure a fair test and worked
out the average!
This week, Year 2 children started their new science topic called animals and their habitat. The children searched the playground for different objects, and, like true scientists, they classified objects as living, dead, and never alive, and recorded their results on a table!
Welcome back to a brand new school year!
Year 3 children have been exploring rocks, soils and fossils as part of their science topic. The children looked closely at different rocks, sequenced the fossilisation process, and compared different soils.
Thank you to @GreatSciShare for giving us a participation badge. The kids really enjoyed the challenge as well as the events where they discovered so much!
In year 4, they have been looking at how sounds are made. They explored this tapping
bird seed on a drum outside as well as creating their own elastic band guitar by using different bands on an open tub!
We decided to focus on questioning and investigative skills in Science for the first two weeks back, with all children doing the same investigations. This week it was paper flowers in water. Such enthusiasm and a great range of investigations in KS2 classrooms.
