My thoughts about this new potential discovery of dark matter:

Yinz know how there've been successful searches in physics for things that we expected to find based on theory?

Like, we expected from theory to find the top quark, and then years later we actually did find it.

Big move, bigger mission!

The Artemis III Space Launch System core stage moved to the transfer aisle at NASA Kennedy. Next up – teams will lift and integrate the massive 212-foot-rocket with the solid rocket boosters as we prepare for the next giant leap in lunar exploration.

3. Your Phone

The settings don't always sync between devices, so check the Gmail app separately.

Gmail app → Menu (☰) → Settings → Select your account → Turn off "Smart features and personalization" → Confirm.

[Nyx @Nyx_Tech_AI]

2. The Hidden Switch

Disabling the first toggle won’t cut it most people quit right there.

Stay on that same settings page: Google Workspace smart features → Manage Workspace smart feature settings → switch off both checkboxes → Save.

It only works when both are off.

1. The Main Switch

This is the option Google puts front and center but it’s not your only route.

Gmail (Desktop):

⚙️ Settings → See all settings → Smart features and personalization → Turn off “Smart features in Gmail, Chat, and Meet” → Save Changes.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS: Gmail Users Need to Read This!

If you have a Gmail account, you need to read this.

Google’s AI is now rifling through your inbox emails and attachments, bank statements, tax docs, medical letters, the whole stack. It was enabled by default, and that quiet rollout is now facing a class-action lawsuit.

Here are 5 steps to turn it off because the kill switch is buried in two different spots:

And this is why I only use gmail for bare minimum anything. Is you're older GenX who gleefully adopted the internet asap and knew how to keep yourself private online, you should've known better than to truat them. If you had to for work, condolences. Really.

@Science_George They never specified, so it's a legal loophole. 🤣
They also never specified other parameters. IE: being chased, but the creature is on the other side of a divider or in containment. Another option: human hamster ball. They can chase to their heart's content, but we keep rollin😎

The moon peeks out from behind PPG Place earlier this morning in Pittsburgh. My plan was to shoot the moon when it was slightly higher and centered with PPG but stupid me forgot to charge my camera battery and it died just as the moon was getting into place. I was able to get my camera back on for this shot, just a little too late. #pittsburgh

[The Nobel Prize @NobelPrize]

Back in the 1980s, Francis Halzen presented a radical idea for a new kind of space observatory.

He realised that the Antarctic ice could be ideal for discovering more about the universe. In 1988, he presented his idea in a paper titled ‘High Energy Neutrino Detection in Polar Ice', along with co-author, John G. Learned. Instead of looking up at the sky with traditional glass lenses, he proposed looking down into the Antarctic ice to detect high-energy cosmic neutrinos.

‘Fig 1’ pictured here is the first diagram that was presented to illustrate how the telescope would function.

1. The earth as a giant filter (top): Neutrinos are ghost-like cosmic particles that pass right through almost anything. They travel from distant cosmic sources, enter the Earth, and shoot toward the South Pole. By looking downward, the telescope uses our entire planet to block out messy background radiation. This ensures that any particle traveling straight up from underground must be a neutrino.

2. The ice telescope (bottom): Buried deep beneath the South Pole is the actual detector. While the surface ice is bubbly, the extreme pressure deep down makes the ice crystal clear. When a rare neutrino finally crashes into an atom in this deep ice, it creates a secondary particle called a muon. As this muon shoots upward, it creates a faint flash of light (which is called the Cerenkov radiation). Scientists drill deep holes into this clear ice and fill them with highly sensitive light sensors to capture these flashes and trace exactly where the neutrino came from.

Halzen quickly convinced many others of his idea’s potential and, in 1992, a group of tenacious researchers and engineers made the first attempts to lower light sensors into the glacier at the South Pole.

This later developed to what is now called the IceCube Neutrino Observatory. It detects high energy neutrinos from deep space, giving insight into the extreme environments from which they originate to unravel new secrets of the universe. Francis Halzen was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2026.
