But going to log my finding in my wildflower book, I discover that I have seen it once before - for in the margin is written the name of the same place, '1997'!

My first ever mature elm for #ThickTrunkTuesday!
This regal tree (click for full effect) has no leaves as yet, the green is due to its cloak of samaras - its papery winged fruits💚
But as this my first ever elm, I'd love a confirmatory ID from anyone more knowledgeable!🌿🌳🌿

A greening oak & swathes of cowslips🌿💛🌿
'Oak before ash, in for a splash/ ash before oak, in for a soak' - a rhyme based on the fact that oaks respond to temperature & ash to daylight hours, hence they green at different rates.
This year in Oxfordshire, oak has won the race🌿
