Water avens 💛🩷💚
My first shot of this apricot-lemon beauty - I've been searching for it since first seeing it on X.
But going to log my finding in my wildflower book, I discover that I have seen it once before - for in the margin is written the name of the same place, '1997'!
My first ever mature elm for #ThickTrunkTuesday!
This regal tree (click for full effect) has no leaves as yet, the green is due to its cloak of samaras - its papery winged fruits💚
But as this my first ever elm, I'd love a confirmatory ID from anyone more knowledgeable!🌿🌳🌿
A greening oak & swathes of cowslips🌿💛🌿
'Oak before ash, in for a splash/ ash before oak, in for a soak' - a rhyme based on the fact that oaks respond to temperature & ash to daylight hours, hence they green at different rates.
This year in Oxfordshire, oak has won the race🌿
Germany has a shortage of native children. They've known about this for 50 years. The government has NEVER supported families. Yet media frame it as a shortage of workers, because they really mean a shortage of super cheap workers.
'A host, of golden daffodils'
(Wordsworth)
Astoundingly lovely coastal woodland filled with wild daffs - shorter than more familiar garden varieties, with a twist of pale petals round the trumpet🤍💛
Wild daffodils are also known as 'Lent lilies'🤍🌼🤍

Coltsfoot in sunshine for #SundayYellow💛🌼💛
A beautiful flower of early spring, coltsfoot is also known as 'Son-before-father' because it steals a march on the competitors by producing its flowers before its leaves🌼
