Deep time #spaceopera I've been working on. #scifi

@USPSHelp The USPS stopped accepting mail from Sri Lanka on April 23rd. Still no resumption. Is anyone looking into this?

@yudhanjaya has made the Forbes top 30 under 30. #lk

@route345art This.

We received our brand new crew portraits, so it's time to introduce #Crew2. I don't mean to show off but this crew might have the most combined experience in spaceflight history! More importantly they're the best teammates ever 👇

One perch Colombo hotel idea. Make hotel. Float to edge of space. Best view on the planet. No paan tuktuk sounds. Tether and some engineering required. #lka

Fast Balloons. The little known Air Force Grid Sphere Satellite. This was a balloon satellite similar to the Echo satellite. It was launched 1966 on an Atlas rocket. The black portions disintegrated in orbit leaving only the grid sphere.

@deshan10 His name is Dulika Perera. Everything about him conveys purpose and velocity. He knows nightmares; his job is delivering dreams.

I work with miniature painters. Here's a 'Dire Azathoth' one just did. #miniatures #Cthulhu #lka

@AlanStern, leader of the New Horizons mission to Pluto, points out ice-covered worlds (of which our solar system has no shortage) could be teeming with life. @quothravenrayne does a nice write-up and links the original paper.

"something more complicated ... is going on with the racial identity fakers ... They use their new identities to claim a public voice—speaking on panels, writing books, leading protests. "

Apropos of some of the conversation on the feed today (and of the extraordinary clusterfuck that was the novel 'American Dirt'). A deep read on identity, appropriation, and on people who fabricate and weaponize an oppression that was never theirs.

@AlanStern @quothravenrayne Imagine the impact on our civilization of discovering others, one after the other, from here to the ends of the Oort Cloud. Starting from, perhaps, this century.

I can't take Orion seriously. Everything about this rocket feels like a Cold War holdover. Rockets that can't land are obsolete.

"This is space opera for the gig economy, where the “cost of doing business” is the limitation, not something old-fashioned like the speed of light."

The National Trust, who promote and protect Sri Lanka's natural and cultural history, have been putting up their lectures going back to 2015. For some reason their Youtube settings seem to hide these? Whatevs, you can use their index. 2/2 #lka

Our state's war on Nature is a barbarian's contempt on entering an old church. He sees nothing of value but gold he can melt. Disinterested teachers have taught many of us to be barbarians. Contempt gives way to appreciation, but appreciation only comes from learning. 1/2 #lka

The best geoengineering project I feel would be to stop geo-engineering. Perhaps best we leave aside terraforming till we have better tools, and have written the planet's user manual.

@MedhyaRsamaraS Orbiting sun shade! Doable, kinda sorta...

Working on a character whose growth arc is giving up on building a human galactic culture, and accepting that we will disappear, and that's alright. Had been the opposite, but then realized I like him better this way.
