"It's very evident that students love their teachers, and that's what makes school systems successful... thank you for the week and I look forward to the next few weeks coming up," says interim superintendent Dr. Wade Lucas on his first week in the district.
"[We are] working with a large and diverse group of internal and external advisors to help in the process. We have a representative group of Dublin City Schools staff and administrators, union representation and parent and community representatives," Valentine continues.
"As your elected... Board of Education, all five of us recognize the significance of this role and the impact that it has on our students, staff, the Dublin community and even beyond," says Board President Chris Valentine.
"Our community deserves a search coordinated by an independent firm and a timeline that allows a diverse set of candidates to apply... we demand the Dublin City Schools Board of Education publish the profiles of candidates," says parent Chrissy Foster.
"Over 350 community members have signed a petition in the past few days indicating concern in the lack of transparency in the seemingly rushed process," says community member Erin Sheen on the hiring of the district's new superintendent.
“Sama is one of the most hardworking, kind people I’ve ever had the chance to get to know. She cares about everything and everyone and always works her hardest to achieve, and exceed, her goals,” former Irish Eye copy editor Lexie Williams says.
Congratulations to our editor in chief Sama Ben Amer for winning the JEA Ohio Journalist of the Year! Sama has been on our staff for 3 years and has edited, written, and designed dozens of pieces for the Irish Eye. Members of the Irish Eye staff gave their words on Sama’s work:
“Her work is consistently interesting and entertaining no matter what subject she’s covering and she serves as an inspiration to everyone else on staff. I cannot wait to see what Sama does next and hopefully be a part of it too!” Allen says.
